I haven't seen the details of the 2022 Coaldrake Review. I do recall my first contact with him in 1991 or '92, when I picked up my phone and got several minutes of foul-mouthed abuse before I hung up. I've never had any reason to revise my first impression, I did see and criticise some very bad proposals he made to the Goss government.

In my (not recent) experience, after Goss (who was a good Premier) came to power, the Queensland Public Service became essentially an ALP body. There were high costs of differing from the party line, not from the Ministers so much as the public servants who only wanted to tell the government what they thought it wanted to hear. This must have got much worse since I retired, and only root-and-branch reform and mass dismissals could change this. However, we saw when would-be house cleaner Newman brought a very good platform to an election, he was trounced by an ALP with no platform. So change is very difficult even if Crisafulli proves to be much better than he appears to be - I couldn't vote for him.

To drain the swamp only requires the patience for natural attrition ! It can be frustrating but it definitely proves more effective all round !

This question was asked in the House Of Representatives;

Can the Minister of Home Affairs furnish honorable members with a short interim report on some of the more important undertakings of the Commonwealth, so that we may know what progress has been made, what expenditure has been incurred, and have other needed information? There are some very big works in progress about which we are quite in the dark.

Not much has changed in 108 years. The question was asked by The Hon King O'Malley.

A well functioning Public Service could happen if Public Servants were exempt from voting & had served a NMNS.
The only reason why bureaucracy is stifling so much is due to the mentality of so many integrity & responsibility-devoid people in the employ of all levels of Govt.
Most of them would more than likely be very good if only they had exposure to responsibility & integrity !
