Proper evaluation of greenhouse gas reduction policies : Comments

By Geoff Carmody, published 24/9/2024

Arguments about how to cut Australian greenhouse emissions (incl using nuclear power) are rife. They've been all about the cost of policy options. They're partial and misleading, at best.

No matter how much they are discussed and pushed down our throats, emissions reductions, net zero, climate “emergencies”, the whole shebang is a scam: probably the worst in history. The climate cult has made us gullible idiots. The cultists, though, are getting nervous: they want to stop us speaking and having opinions - not just Albanese and his evil totalitarian censorship Bill: the runt in charge of the United Nations wants world-wide censorship.

The so-called elites all pretend to believe the scam. Peter Dutton's push for nuclear power because it's the only way to reach “net zero” is pathetic. It was his party that started the net zero rubbish in the first place: he doesn't have the bottle to call a halt to the scam.

The whole climate/renewable energy rot is now seeing farmers working under 400 metres from the latest crop of windmills being warned to wear hard hats because bits and pieces are flying off the windmill blades.

Instead of having five bob each way and talking about the best way to reduce emissions, opponents of this nonsense should be talking about the total lack of any need to reduce emissions; and that nothing we do will change the climate.

Suppose Australia's mainland aluminium smelters were to close due to lack of baseload power. We'd continue to export alumina and complementary thermal coal to countries who don't give a damn about emissions. We'd buy our own metal back from those countries for top dollar and they'd get the jobs and profit. All because baseload power is not politically correct.

Same goes for other extractive industries that are promised but yet to start. A non-baseload power system will have issues with rationing, stability, visual blight and full system cost. It's part of the green growth fantasy in which a country that can support 15m has to take on 27m and more.

The belief that people can control the climate comes, not only from carpetbaggers, but from a cult looking for religion or something else to believe in.

Nobody, despite numerous requests, has provided proof that vital-to-life carbon dioxide has any effect on climate, or that the 3% emitted by man is any more “dangerous” than the 97% produced naturally.

As for the ‘models’ much of the scam is based upon, the CSIRO says that they (the models) involve “simplifications” of the process, are not “fully understood”, and “no responsibility will be accepted by the CSIRO” for their “accuracy” and “predictions” (NB). Yet, these ‘predictions’ (shots in the dark) are being used to wreck our economy and environment (windmills and solar panels).

Speaking of models: the things were used 50 years ago to predict that minerals, oil and gas would run out by the year 2000. It could be said that the models were a bit iffy then; but 50 years later, the CSIRO is admitting that the models are iffy now.
