With Colombia being the largest coal exporter to Israel, this decision is not only a victory in symbolic terms but shows the enormous impact that a wider energy embargo could have in ending Israel’s genocide in Gaza, as well as the power of the transnational organizing that brought the decision about.

Only a few weeks into the genocide, the largest Colombian mine workers’ union, Sintracarbón, responded to a call for solidarity from the Palestinian trade union movement, issuing a statement demanding the halting of Colombian coal exports to Israel. In raising this demand, the miners also highlighted Israel’s nefarious role in training paramilitaries and mercenaries responsible for widespread atrocities in Colombia, and rallied workers globally to stop the production of metals, minerals and fuels that are used in these wars . . . the planet is on the verge of a new world war and it is the workers who can and have the obligation to stop this threat against the existence of the human race.<<

I see you would like my family to remain without electricity.

You may also be happy when untreated sewage flows in the streets of Tel Aviv, causing death of Israeli children from infectious diseases, including polio, right?

Is this just for your pleasure or do you have any purpose in mind, because this, Israelis starving and dying of preventable infectious diseases, would be the very last thing Netanyahu ever cares or bothers about - he doesn't count Israelis and their corpses, but only enjoys counting dead Arabs!

How would you like it when hundreds of thousands of Australians will no longer be able to obtain their medications, and therefore either die or suffer great pains and disabilities, that is because Israel is a medical superpower and without electricity it will no longer be able to produce and export these medicines.

And I am yet to mention the Colombian miners themselves who now will have only coal to eat...

Israel, BTW, normally has enough energy, enough gas resources to supply not only its own electricity but export it as well. These days, its gas fields are idle because it is unsafe to operate them when targeted by all those rockets. Some other countries are not receiving their gas either.
