What green growthists refuse to grasp is that human progress only took off when we swapped firewood for coal. Now we're supposed to go in reverse by swapping high net energy sources for low. This is called declining net energy which if it gets too low causes permanent decline down a cliff. When we're asked or perhaps forced to refrain from using aircon on 43C days people in weatherboard homes will die.

In Australia's case I think the aluminium industry will be an eye opener. Local smelters will close due to unreliable power and discontinued subsidies. We will send alumina and thermal coal to Asia and buy back the metal made from our own raw materials. The downside we lose jobs and profits the upside we get a bit closer to Net Zero. This is where we're heading.

I suspect that quite a few of the global warming pushers are starting
to realise that they have made a mistake but are so far out on their
political or financial limb that cannot possibly change their policies.
Can you imagine the political upheaval if Albo together with Bowen
standing in front of a press conference said, "We have received
scientific opinion that the IPCC has admitted their predictions
are being reexamined".
They and plenty of those operating on government grants and subsidies
would attack the Labour Party and the Greens.
It would be chaotic. It would all be blamed on Fox News !

I have sad news for you.

Nothing like another rusted on old conservative having a bitch about renewable energy, and CO2 reduction targets. This mob, just like Dud Dutton himself, think they have latched onto the "great fix" a political winner, for future energy requirements in NUCLEAR POWER! Unfortunately for Australia and the rest of the world, the problems created by fossil fuels and the need to reduce emissions is here and now, not 30 or 40 years into the future, Dud and co just can't hope to kick the problem down the road and hope tomorrows generation will come up with a real solution. Politically in almost 10 years of government the conservatives failed to develop any kind of workable energy policy despite more than 20 attempts. Now they are trying to pull a rabbit out of the hat with NUCLEAR, nothing concrete just a smoke and mirrors solution. Sure, NUCLEAR may prove to be a viable part of the the solution for Australia, but that's well into the future, real action is needed now!

p/s Unfortunately, as far as a decent energy policy is concerned, the lights have well and truly gone out with the philosophically driven conservative mob in Australia.

I think that the term "renewable" needs to be focussed on before anything else. Worn out wind generators & solar panels are most definitely not "renewable". There is no way these components can be renewed in any shape of form in the foreseeable future. Burying huge amounts of plastic, fibreglass, aluminium etc does not fit the term renewable. Just about every ounce of material used is finite & not renewable. How some morons can even suggest that there is such a thing as "renewable" is proof of the idiocy that is the con of this renewable energy Zero target.

This is not a personal attack, just a personal opinion based on observations over decades.
