Well, the Albanese government wants to “stabilise” its relationship with the Communist dictatorship that is responsible for these mad dogs and lunatics who like to experiment with ways of killing people. To them, and to Communist dictators, people are in the same category as the mice they experiment on.

Germ warfare can happen anywhere. Many nations are experimenting with more and more lethal strains of various pathogens. One can only hope those that create these Frankenstein pathogens are the ones first infected with the same. Our only protection is the complete closure of our border. With no exceptions. Those that try to gain prohibited entry need to be stopped with extreme prejudice. By robotic guardians armed with night sight, radar, ultrasound reception, magnetic field detection, thermal imaging, U.V. and infrared vision etc.

Those that we allow as legal migrants must first go through an offshore quarantine station in strict isolation wards, all operated by AI and video validation. These should be stage 1, 2 and 3, repetitions, to be sure no infected person or pet slips through the net.

Ditto all imports which must be completely disinfected thrice on the ship or plane before offloading by eagle eyed robotic handlers.

Disinfection may include alcohol, steam, irradiation or high heat, or some possible combination of all the forgoing. All overseen by AI assisted via video conferencing.

As an Island nation we stand a better chance of keeping these things out until they die from the lack of hosts.

And our trade ought to be limited to other Island nations with similar or better quarantine practises. China, if she wants to remain in the nations that trade and have diplomatic relations, etc. Needs to destroy these killer pathogens before they, once again, get out of the lab.

What possible reason could they have to develop or keep any doomsday virus!? Which may be only contained or eliminated by a self-interest, survival mode, west, with a massive burst of nuclear radiation.

China needs to remember that they have a nation with a possible billion hosts. And should one of these Doomsday pathogens escape or be released, they themselves with no immunity or possible efficacious vaccine, could be wiped off the face of the planet!

What exactly is the author's intention here?

Through the title and towards the end of the article he is talking about the Wuhan Lab.

Seven of the research scientists are from the University of Chemical Technology Beijing, two from The Fifth Medical Centre of PLA General Hospital Beijing and one from Medical School Nanjing University.

The author seems to imply that this research is taking place in the Wuhan Lab but this is not stated in the source material.

In fact, the publishers of the source material are financed by the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory which is located in New York.

The author also states the virus "was developed through allowing the SAR-CoV-2 to mutate."

This is incorrect. It is a mutation of the naturally occurring GX_P2V virus.

The GX_P2V virus can infect both golden hamsters and hACE2 mice and it does not appear to cause obvious disease in these animals.

This alone suggests a possible investigation for vaccines for mutated forms of the virus but we'll leave that to the experts.

So the question still remains what is the author's purpose?

Is it straight up scare mongering?

As China seems to be going along a path that is alarming a number of
Western medical scientists, is it possible that China's enhancement
of effectiveness pathway is looking for a DNA system that will be
immune for Chinese people ?
