Barbie: a film about fashionable feminism : Comments

The Barbie movie so completely portrays the vision of 'girl boss' feminism that at points I didn't know whether they were trying to parody fashionable feminism didn't realise just how much of a cliché it was.

Here in Queensland we are living in a true Barbieland, but it doesn't work so well in the real world.

So many things are collapsing, police, hospitals, ambulances education, you name it & it is in trouble. A real feature of this is that when the CEO, Director, Commissioner or minister fronts the media we find yet another lady. These ladies under our Annie have been promoted to their 4Th or 5th level of incompetence, unlike their male counterparts & predecessors who were usually only at their first or second level of incompetence.

Yes Queensland today is a true picture of how a Barbieland collapses, under the weight of perceived female perfection.

I just read Dara Macdonald's article on Capitalism too. Nuanced view. Not sure I agree with every subtlety- but overall good. I agree that many terms in politics are confusing rather than explanatory.
