Educating the US Imperium: Australia’s mission for Assange : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 7/9/2023

The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Opposition leader, Peter Dutton, agree on almost nothing else but the fact that Assange has suffered enough.

There is nothing "odd" about Australian politicians colluding or plotting together these days. In this case, they have decided that everyone wants them to help out a bad man just because he is an Australian. Very presumptuous of them.

Assange is wanted by our greatest ally. They should have him. But, seeing he is not in Australia, he can't be handed over. Australia has no role to play, and all the renewed hullabaloo is pointless virtue-signalling.

Australians have a lot more problems to worry about - all caused by these same political buddies - before they give a thought to Assange, who could have handed himself over a decade ago.

The comment about the American ambassador being "unimpressive" is damn childish, even for Backpak.

Disagree with most of this.

This bail jumping criminal was hardly a credible publisher, just a computer hacker who selectively revealed the US secrets.

If you or I did what he did, we would be still doing time.

If Assange had faced up like a man, he may have been pardoned.

Currently, he has yet to be sentenced, less actual time served in an actual prison.

I'm not adverse to that happening here on a (easy time) prison farm minus any computer or smart phone privileges.

God this stuff makes me laugh!

What the Assange saga tells us all here in the far flung US outpost, is our total unimportance in the US scheme of things.

Trump was honest and open in the US assessment, we can all look forward to the sacrifice that will so easily be made when the S… hits the fan and China rolls in to capture its Southern most outpost in South East Asia.

We have a desperate need for some realist thinking in Government circles, but that does not look promising at all; so as an alternative, the hope for a five star wayward US general such as MacArthur to come to the rescue will have to do…it certainly won’t be General Biden..Ho,Ho,Ho,Ho …

If there are any Christians still standing, let us all pray!

The dirty little secret that the Australian left cannot consider is that Assange willingly and naively cooperated with Trump's GOP campaign to get Clinton & the Democrats.

US indie and/or left media present better by using credible source documents e.g. the Mueller Report for details see Corn in Mother Jones

'Denounce Julian Assange. Don’t Extradite Him. The prosecution of the conniving WikiLeaks founder poses a threat to American journalism.'

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2021/12/denounce-julian-assange-dont-extradite-him/

The family of DNC staffer Seth Rich (falsely accused of stealing DNC emails) who were thrown under a bus by Assange and Wikileaks, to avoid allegations of Russian - GOP collusion, stating via Murdoch's Fox News; the latter made an undisclosed settlement to Rich's family (NPR).

Worse, there does seem to be a whiff around these right wing actors, Wikileaks (accused of being or becoming a 'Russian cut out' by Abromson in 'Proof of Corruption') and Anglo left indirectly suggesting that Ukraine should concede to Russia for it to 'peace all over' them.

Now we have Australia's high profile faux or corporate leftie Phillip Adams in Murdoch's The Australian doing the bidding of Assange.... willing dupes and useful idiots?
