The Matildas: Australians going OTT on sport yet again? : Comments

By Brendan O'Reilly, published 28/8/2023

On the positive side, the team is much improved since it was beaten seven-nil by a team of Under 15 schoolboys in 2016, and it did score a couple of spectacular goals.

Just another day in “Lesbos” of the South Seas.

Time for a referendum on a new National flag; a toss up between the Aboriginal and the homosexual standard of the rainbow.

News flash, Albanese doesn't know much about real football. Anyone who did knew they couldn't win the tournament

A lot of people seem to lose their common-sense over sport; or is it just the MSM shoving a bunch of hysterical ratbags in our faces everyday? News, for example, used up 15 or more minutes of headline time during the Matilda Madness. What a bore!

If OTT means over the top, it certainly was; and Brendan O'Reilly is now dragging the nonsense out by writing about it. And the sheilas certainly failed to live up to the hype leading up to their ignominy.

How about the Captain: personality of a dead fish.

Given the interference of sporting organisations in politics, and their general wokeness, 'sport' should be, and is for many of us, a dirty word.

They did us proud! No two ways about it.

The only serious fault I can find, is with the selectors and their reliance on players that have had their best season some time ago.

Goal scoring seems an issue, but not getting in shooting range, which they did often enough!

Getting an unmarked player into shooting position is also another issue, along with far too much reliance on corners!

Retaining possession worthless if it does not culminate in a shoot at goal!

As always, attack is the best method of defence! And that does seem the strategy employed by the Matildas nor the coaching staff?

It was more of an exercise in championing women (or lesbian) empowerment than sporting achievement.
Still it was good to see womens sport come into its own, even if getting there was on the back of mens success.

Not saying I agree with past decisions with regards to gender pay gap etc.
- when pay is dictated by viability, i.e.sponsors and ticket sales

But hopefully more girls will take part in sport and be more physically active, which is good for ones wellbeing.
- That is, if the lesbians allow them into an area they dominate.
I've heard of victimisation of non gay women in womens sports.
