Soy boys – no longer just a joke : Comments

By David Leyonhjelm, published 28/7/2023

Soy was the key to life without meat, vegetarians and vegans declared. Tofu was delicious in spite of having no taste, others said.

People who think that soy beans, almonds etc produce 'milk' as the labels pretend are as absurd as the court that 'found' that it was OK to call liquids from nuts and plants 'milk' for advertising aimed at nutters, who most likely already had "neurological conditions like autism, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, and depression."

The quicker these nutters succumb to what the university of California believes they will the better.

Interesting if unproven hypothesis. Some facts sprinkled liberally with speculation.

And similar to the unproven speculation that testosterone is connected to cancer.

Were this to have a foundation in fact, every 18-20year old male on the planet would be a walking bag of tumours and have a prostate the size of a lemon.

Facts are, the older we get, the less testosterone we men make the more likely we are to develop cancer. As this occurs our bones become less dense, more brittle. And can and do break doing normal weight bearing, walking or stepping up. Soy could be implicated?

If I had my way, I'd substitute optimum cheap testosterone for the ultra-expensive anabolic steroids that big pharma sells to help the bones to become less porous and denser.

As always when these hypotheticals are trotted out, there's almost always a big buck in it for big pharma.

Optimum testosterone would restore muscle tone and strength, lost libido, joy of life and bone density.

And far cheaper than filling nursing homes with bedridden cripples too feeble to use the toilet, walk the dog, or take a stroll for pleasure.

It is worth noting that Ayn Rand already criticised soy in her 1957 book, "Atlas Shrugged", so this topic is not new for the libertarian movement.

Not much was medically known at that time about this wonder-food, soy and the majority were yet to even hear about soy's existence: the opposition to soy was ideological, not medical. Somehow it became a symbol of socialism, I wonder why, other than for Ayn Rand's personal dislike of it.
Somehow too, smoking became an opposite symbol of freedom, due to Ayn Rand's liking it... certainly not healthier than soy...

Meanwhile more medical information became available, including to naturopaths, that soy is not as healthy as we previously thought, and as a result I moved from soy milk to rice milk... not that I drink much milk of any kind nowadays.

I still believe in individual freedom, including in the author's freedom to consume and poison himself with meat and unhealthy cow's milk that was biologically never intended for humans, but for cow calves.

This David Leyonhjelm claims to be some self appointed champion of peoples civil liberties, but when tested he comes out as fake as his now defunct Liberal Democratic Party, neither liberal nor democratic, more an impostor with extreme right wing views.

WTF?

ttbn - I hope that you have a diet of whole and unprocessed food lest you become a soy boy yourself.

Apart from the obvious soy products such as soy milk and tofu soy is also found in:

Bread (soy flour is used in many commercial breads),Breakfast cereals, Bread crumbs, Cakes and biscuits, Chocolate flavourings, Many meat substitutes, Mayonnaise type dressings, Packaged sauces and gravy mixes, Sausages, sausage rolls, frankfurts, pizza, Chocolates and sweets, Crumbed meats, Deli meats and salads, Flavourings, Soups, Taco shells, Unlabelled processed foods eg. takeaway food, Vegetable gum, Vegetable Starch and Vegetable broth.

Soy products are also feed to chickens and pigs so watch out for them as well as eggs.

WTF

I assure you that I don't eat soy beans in any form. I eat home-cooked, fresh products that I can identify. My wife is an ex-home economics/hospitality teacher and dietician. Other people can eat what they like as far as I'm concerned. My main beef is the lie that soy beans and nuts can be turned into milk, which is a product available only from female mammals.

"which is a product available only from female mammals" and coconuts. Mores the pity some on here don't exhibit the milk of human kindness, they are as intolerant as some are to lactose in milk.

In the states optimised testosterone replacement is practised, 90-year-old bedridden cripples can get up and become marathon runners.

Why is quality of life taking second place to unproven hypotheticals? As for cancer there remains the miracle cure, the alpha particle bismuth 213! We get from MSR thorium.

One in every three of us will get cancer in our lifetime. So why all the fuss about optimised GRT. And we can cure much of it with the alpha particle bismuth 213! A dirt-free byproduct Of MSR thorium.

Although the waste from MSR thorium is much, much less with a half-life of just 300 years. For the first thirty years it's much more radioactive than any other nuclear waste, emitting dangerous levels of gamma radiation.

Not all bad news if this waste can be coated in manmade cheap diamonds that convert radiation into raw electricity, as in nuclear batteries.

Just 8 grams of thorium can power your house and car for a century at around a dollar a year. The polly waffling pollies know this but are clearly in bed with the energy barons and need to be therefore, unelectable!

medpharmazone, that is one of the most sensible posts I've sREAD on this Forum in years."Hi".

Judging by your nick, and only judging by your nick, having little else to go on, is it too bold of me to suggest you are about to post some link to a website where for $99.99 plus p&h we may purchase with a 30 day money back guarantee, that wonder elixir made from the testosterone of the Giant Gnat, known for more than 300 years only to Tibetan monks in the Zang region of the Himalayan Mountains, now made freely available, at a price, to the world. (An elixir with "proven" medicinal properties that cures over 300 aliments, including cancer and ingrown toenails).

If that above is not your mantra, then WELCOME.
