These measures seem to be a result of the exporting of education and Covid.

Degrees have become less relevant in the work place and built infrastructure.

As others have said universities have lost focus on their reason for existence- because they have been hijacked by woke communism.

If universities focus on the needs of the historical local communities (rather than opportunism) that they service they will be ok.

Part of this may involve more relevant web based short courses of varying length, practical workshops, cost reduction strategies, industry integration, etc. If universities refocused their core efforts on core topics costs could be reduced.

DARPA was founded on the concept of technology superiority for common wealth to hold back chaotic tyranny in the world- universities have been part of this system- but it seems that universities have become seduced by the chaotic tyranny of Socialism and Communism.

There have been issues with the economic model of universities for more than twenty years- the education export industry have hidden the problem and turned cities into foreign territories.
