We confront a future where factories roll day and night with hardly a single human hand involved, where this idea will have to be the order of the day, and folk paid to consume.

There will need to be a tax on production and offset by hugely lower energy costs. Or maybe you believe we could emulate Zimbabwe and just print money. And we know how that ended, don't we?

If there was a UBI, prices would rise to absorb the extra money available in the market. Pressure would then be applied to increase the UBI and if that happened then there would be further price rises, ad infinitum.

If every human is born equal, they're entitled to an equal basic payment from their fellow Taxpayers coffers to which they themselves contribute !
Those who spend time overseas need to make up for the taxes they missed paying to Australia during their time away. I'm certain that they wouldn't be agreeable to have their missed payments deducted from their benefits !

It will never work, Everard. The current program of 715K immigration over 2023-25, and ridiculing the homeless, is simply too much fun.

According to findings presented in New Scientist in 2020:

"When surveyed, people who received universal basic income instead of regular unemployment benefits reported better financial well-being, mental health and cognitive functioning, as well as higher levels of confidence in the future."

Universal Basic Income will be part of any progressive first world country in the future.

As the use of A1 and robotics increases at the expense of workers UBI will become even more important.

It has long been established that the UBI can be funded through the taxing of the number and type of robotics and A1 that is in operation.
