Brisbane 2032 - Olympic-sized white elephants : Comments

By Scott Prasser, published 1/3/2023

The Brisbane Olympic Games will be our own very big white elephant project – you know those projects that cost so much and deliver so little and serve no real useful purpose.

No country in the financial straits Australia is in should be blowing money on Olympic Games.

The Brisbane Olympics will end up cancelled by the World's economy. One just has to observe how the Woke have already commenced work on the downfall of the West !
Russia will probably come out on top because of that stupidity !

Incompetence is in my view writ large. And they don't have the testicular fortitude to do any thing real.

All they have as their epitaph is, they spend more money, create a huge and expanding army of civil servants and keep moving the goal posts when any tries to score.

For mine the Gabba should be left as is and QE 2 upgrade as a covered airconditioned stadium that could keep serving and earning income until the turn of the century.

It could be accessed by an underground system that starts at Eagle Farm, passes through central station then straight out to QE 2. As the years pass that income earned would increase until the thing paid for itself and started to earn income.

Other than that, there are other venues in the gold coast and Toowoomba that would pay back their much smaller Invesment before their usefulness expired.

They could all be accessed via rapid rail that would also serve until the turn of the century and if done off budget, ensure they got out of the red and into the black, years ahead of their redevelopment!

The ethnic in the woodpile is the ever-rising cost of energy and what that must add to the final blown out bill!

Regrettably, the author is spot on with his observations.

What is it about ALP Politicians that they have to spend enormous amounts of money on 'Games" in order to distract the Great Unwashed?

Remember the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, anyone?

What a towering success that was. Just see the enduring legacy that they left.

Sweet bugger-all!
