The midterm election: a rude awakening for the Republican Party : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 22/11/2022

The leadership as well as the rank and file of the party must now choose between following Trump's hopeless pursuit of the presidency again or abandon him once and for all in pursuit of constructive conservatism.

American commentator, Megan Kelly, believes that voters will give DeSantis a miss because they are Trumplicans not Republicans; they remember what Trump did for them; they don't care about the party.

In the meantime, there are more important things in in Australia for Australians to worry about than this character's anti-American ramblings.

BRING ON RON DESANTIS

Funny that ttbn

For years many OLOers, have been repeditive Trumpsters, whenever possible.

++++++++++++++

Days after the Midterms:

There Trump was at his Mar-a-Lago Palace trotting out the familiar lines.

"We call it the China virus, some people call it other things, but it was devastating and we built it back and did an incredible job." More than one million deaths, many on Trump's watch. Incredible.

"We're going to bring people together." Like you did on January 6, 2021?

"Our southern border was tighter than ever before." Ah, yes, the half built wall.

The poor Americans. They have two more years of the world's biggest ego telling them how great he is.

Hoping Ron DeSantis can win the Presidency in 2024.

But then again more extreme Trumpists - with or without Trump's blessing - might knock off DeSantis before the Election.

One thing about it: neither you nor I need worry ourselves about it. DeSantis or Trump. Either of them would be better than Biden - as would Yogi Bear.

We have Albanese and Dutton to concern ourselves with. The former is a dangerous Marxist; the latter is a useless drip.

Agree with most of this excellent advice. For mine the best chance for the republicans to unseat Biden is with a candidate like the governor of Florida. Who should do what is needed to unite a deeply divided America before it's too late!

Getting rich on the back of widespread (republican) engineered poverty is a zero-sum game. Need to get back to post war policies that made America the richest

most prosperous nation on planet earth.

And it won't cost the rich any of their accumulated wealth but will add to it in full measure! Moreover, will spread the tax burden among millions of new taxpayers in a win-win all round!

I mean the enemy is not other Americans! Nor black Americans! But sits there on the other side of the world waiting for gun toting white supremists and neo-Nazis to do the conquering for them.

We need to exchange extreme capitalism for post war cooperative capitalism comrade!

Trump is not interested, I believe, in a Presidency he can't win, just the political donations he can subvert to his personal account. Only morons with a combined IQ of the ambient temperature follow or still support him.
