I'll posit a few essential actions and in future write an article outlining the answers, which entail radical change to 'western' lifestyles:

- No red meat
- No cars as we know them. E-bicycles and e-scooters need to be ubiquitous; 'kei' EV's - (2 seater 1.5 by 3m) would be biggest personal transport
- Electrify all transport
- Flights to become a 10 yearly, economy class thing if at all
- smaller electrified insulated dwellings with PV and batteries

Yes a carbon tax is needed. On top of that, flights, car licensing and red meats need to be taxed according to the deaths (climate and other) they cause now and in the future.

All these taxes need to be spent on decarbonizing our lifestyle, such as:
- Providing free electric public transport
- Subsidies for electrifying and insulating homes
- Downsizing the huge McMansions - cutting them in half to make two homes
- Green housing developments - with trees, locals shops and low rise units instead of 'grey sprawl'

Geoff Carmody has one thing very wrong, we have over double the trees here at white settlement, & increasing quickly according to NASA satellite scans. It is already too expensive to maintain improved pasture in many areas of Oz. Much of south east Queensland, previously improved for grazing is returning to bush, as it is too expensive to maintain it.

This is nasty bush. Not the open woodland that the first explorers found, product of the aboriginals & their fire stick hunting methods, but thick scrub, useless to man or native beast. I now have a resident mob of kangaroos on my property, where none existed 30 years ago. They are here as the 10,000 acre property across the river, previously good improved grazing country is now mostly junk thicket of bush, hard even for kangaroos to penetrate, & with little grass or suitable herbage to feed them.

The owner recently told me he is giving up. His kids are too smart to wanting a farming life, & the rapidly encroaching tree change retirees bitch like hell about smoke if he runs a winter fire through a paddock to reduce the scrub & the big fire risk. The developers are circling, & soon I will probably have another 50,000 neighbors.

Time to go west young man, as the saying goes, me thinks.

I go along with that ! Camels can do a better job than our bureaudroids & academic environmental experts ! Rusa, softened with a good hardwood mallet & barbecued is great tasting.

Unless you want to be a 24/7 goat herder Alan, goats are just too hard to manage.

A mate of mine wanted to run organic vegetable farming with angora goats on his 400 acre property. While he was jumping through all the hurdles to achieve organic status he developed his goat flock. They were a nightmare.

They had to be locked up in very secure roofed enclosures at night to protect them from wild dog attack, & keeping them in during the day was very difficult. He started with dog wire fences, buried 6" deep, but they dug that out, lay on their side & wriggled out under the wire. At least they left some wool behind on the wire.

He then ran 4 strand of electric fencing from near ground to near fence height. He had to buy a special attachment for his slasher to keep the grass short, or it & weeds from shorting the lower strand out. This worked until they had grown good fleeces, which insulated them, allowing them to wriggle out again under it all.

Another mate bought 3 sheep to mow the grass in his 5 acre house paddock, where all his farming implements were stored in rows. Worked, not a weed to be seen, & everything sitting in a very short lawn. The only problem was his wife who complained she did not have a flower or shrub left, all eaten out. Even his mango trees were eaten off to the height a sheep could reach standing on it's hind legs.

I have seen reports of goats working well if guarded by shepherds, but I'll give it a miss thanks. My 20 odd bunch of kangaroos can be a nuisance, breaking fences, particularly electric ones, but they are keeping some rubbish down with no management problems.
