A new parliament for Australia : Comments

By Everald Compton, published 25/7/2022

While I dont expect Albo to take notice of my thoughts, these are my top ten priorities and I have listed them in what I believe is their order of importance.

  1. Pages:
  2. 1
  3. 2
  4. 3
  5. 4
  6. All
Yes, I subscribe to the motivation behind this piece, but hold no hope of change in the right direction.

Australian Governments have by tradition, kowtowed to the dictates of the US, and that is what we are gifted with again. The curse of the Vassal State!

HEALTH "Investing" in Health is an economic black hole.

INFLATION Of course inflation is up, Everard. The majority of Australians voted Labor, so they want economic dysfunction and it's inevitable inflation from a tax, tax, tax, spend, spend, spend government. Who did you vote for?

ENERGY – Hang on, Everard. Aren't you one of the climate Alarmists who want to replace our cheap energy coal fired power stations with expensive Green methods? You can't have it both ways, Everard.

AGED CARE –Then start thinking about how best to legalise Euthenasia and let terminally ill people die with dignity..

CLIMATE and ENVIRONMENT There ya go, Everard. You want cheap energy and you support the climate Alarmists. Can't have it both ways, old mate.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING – Stop importing people into this country who need our governments to provide them with housing, as well as everything else they need. Recognise that a declining population means lower house prices and rents.

ULURU STATEMENT – Stop pandering to the claims of self appointed "aboriginal leaders" , some of whom are not really aboriginal at all, to divide our nation by race. Recognise that they only trying to figure a way to get their sticky fingers on the incredible $60 billion pa that The Good Old Aussie Taxpayer forks out for aboriginal welfare.

INFRASTRUCTURE –Then stop importing more people which will make it worse.

WATER – We are not allowed to. Because the greenies you support over their Global warming religion oppose any sensible proposal that can approve things. When the Aral sea dried up because of Socialist incompetence, it changed the climate around it for thousands of square kilometers around. It all turned into a desert. The reverse can be true. Do what Burley Griffin proposed a hundred years ago and redirect the over abundant water from the north west of Australia into Lake Eyre.

CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGE –The best Upper Houses of our governments that should be abolished are the upper houses of every state government, which are simply well salaried retirement homes for former politicians and their mates.

"I yearn for the dignified tradition of Menzies and Chifley who regularly debated one another in Parliament with huge courtesy and respect, as well as making excellent use of the English language as their sauce of power."

Well besides all the other near useless drivel you've written (you've mainly just complained about stuff without providing any detail how to fix things within our economic constraints), I'll focus on the above quoted sentence since most will ignore it.

Having people govern solely due to their advanced speaking skills and sophistry is the VERY LAST thing that you want to have. History is littered with people who were fluid and persuasive speakers but horrendous leaders who have caused devastating economic, military, social, etc. disasters.

Policy decisions should derive from rational/logical arguments based on factual observations. It shouldn't be a concern at all if someone uses primary school level or expletive ridden language, as long what they state as a truth is backed by observational fact and that the conclusions they reach follow rationally.

In other words its not the way that you express things that matter but the meaning and foreseeable consequences of what you say. In addition, what you claim you are going to do has little value, what counts is what you actually end up doing.

Albanese did not follow three conservative PMs. Only Abbott came close to being conservative, and he didn't believe in freedom of speech, chickening out on his promise on sec.18c.

Compton is right about one thing though: Albo won't take "any notice" of his "thoughts"; won't even know of them. What a loss to Australia!

The 10 points he raises are the same ones as always, and they will be handled and mishandled in the same way as they always have been.

He hopes that "Question Time will become a place of respectful debate". Sheesh!

Australia is rooted, no matter what mob of no hopers is in power, or what naifs like Compton "yearn" for.

Thinkabit. Hear, hear and well said Sir.

Everald is like Labor long on wind and exercising the tongue muscles. But short on the stuff between the ears? Fails to understand like all the waste of space, labor, that everything comes back to energy and its current cost.

Simply put, every dollar spent on keeping the lights on is a dollar less spent on the essentials of life, health, aged care and so on!

Are so thick (as a brick) that they cannot divorce themselves from that albatross, massively expensive coal-fired power! And constantly repeat the risible rubbish that renewables are the cheapest and will confer the status of an energy super power on Oz!

Hydrogen? Yes. But at 6 dollars a liquid litre? And at three quarters of the range of petrol?

NO! Except, where transport companies make their own from solar panels? And not too many visionary takers in that space, given the upfront outlays!

Thorium? No, not sore at im. Why should I be? Says it all?

And we're stuck with this tin-eared moribund garbage for the next three years.

Thorium is everywhere, even on the moon!

Oh dear, what is the hope for the country when even the Elites such as Everauld don't understand what is going on.
I'll bet he thinks the 2008 GFC crash was caused by the financial system.
He seems to think we are facing a repeat of that.

What we are facing is a repeat of the Peaking of crude oil in 2005,
except it is not oil but energy generally and mostly a failure of
wind (literally) and solar to do the job without bankrupting the country.
Without sufficient energy, everything will fail.
The dream of Zero Net Co2 by 2050 has become a nightmare.
Unfortunately the new government is hell bent on renewables and has
blinkers fitted tightly. The only hope is a revolution of the unions
threatening to cut funding to the ALP if it blocks new power stations.

It can be argued that in Europe it is dead already.
It looks like it will starve to death literally.
Some foolish elites are blaming the Ukraine war, it is just a sideline.

I think you & many others are being too hard on Abbott ttbn. I believe he wanted to get rid of 18c just as much as you, but was over ruled by the number of wets in his own party, who would not vote for it, & told him so. The Libs were much more labor lite then than even today.

The thing we must ask Everald is where would the money come from. We have blown billions on windmills, so he's got that wish, but it & Covid have left no money for grandiose plans requiring huge spending. Albo is already promising to spend billions, after attacking the budget deficit. Much of that was run up following Labor suggestions of government supporting workforce displaced by covid Policy. That policy was largely controlled by Victoria & Queensland policy, not federal. Morrison wanted to open up the economy much earlier but could not to get the Labor states to do so.

With all his spending ideas Everald has not even mentioned the major requirement of defense. Unless we get that in order, any spending elsewhere will be just a waste of money.

My Vision for a New Australia

I disagree with all young Everald's priorities and would add.

HEALTH - there needs to be some limits on all the extra services Medicare is providing. Reduced access to those who ignore Covid Vaccinations? Wondering if the ignorants also ignore Flu vaccinations?

BRING IN MANY MORE NURSES FROM OVERSEAS TO END THE SHORTAGES.

Drop INFLATION off the list - as it is one free market outcome.

AGED CARE – A national Euthanasia choice to let terminally ill people to die with dignity.

CLIMATE, ENERGY and ENVIRONMENT assume Aus is not covered by a plastic bubble but lives in the same world as India and China who are building large coal fired stations every week.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING and INFRASTRUCTUE – Bring in cheap foreign labour to build a lot more houses and units to drive the price down while increasing availability.

INFRASTRUCTURE – build more train lines between those houses and units.

WATER – No more National Party backed draining off cheating for rice farms in the desert. No buy backs.

CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGE – No Republic as the Constitutional Monarchy is the best system.

ULURU STATEMENT – Off the list until a biological DNA test is implemented to weed out "race-shifting" white gals and guys. Then 2 votes for every ridgydidge black man, but no votes for black women.

Sheds not bombs henryoharry29.

Great idea.

Wouldn’t it be lovely, as they say, if pansy Tony could organise as a priority the building of your beautifully designed industrial shedding for homeless shelters, as opposed to wasting multi millions contributing armament towards another losing American war!

Sure beats tents housing homeless families by the dozens in school yards of the Western Suburbs of Sydney.

The angry ants of the Forum have spoken, more like their moaning and groaning as usual. After almost 10 years of corrupt do nothing conservative politics its time to move on, and Everald is right in what he's saying. Labor has promised reform in so many areas, and it 's reform that the people of Australia voted for, and now expect Labor to deliver. If Albo and his mob can substantially achieve what they have promised then government will be their for some time to come, BUT they have to deliver over the next three years, which is not going to be Alboeasy!

Anything would be an improvement over the last decade of do-nothing corrupt snake-oil salesmen, interested only in keeping their spotted behinds on those leather ComCars seats and enriching themselves, their sponsors and their families.
After the grand endless promises, most of which came to nothing, we have become an inward-gazing fearful and hateful country constantly at war with itself (which has always been part of the Tory strategy).

We rid ourselves of the last "mean and tricky" brigade in the same emphatic way and for the same reasons.

Historically all major changes and advances come from Labor governments - short lived as they are - but if people finally see through the partisan media influence and if the government keeps it's head and avoids blunders they may have a few terms to make up for those wasted years.

Albozo and his stooges have made a lot of promises as Labor does every election. The question is whether they have any intention to keep them, unlike every other Labor government.

Having waited 2 months to start parliament after promising a rapid start this is when politics collides with reality. After inheriting a strong and robust economy with sub-4 % unemployment and nearly 4% growth, Labor is now met with growing inflation. The remedies are simple, to reduce inflation spending must be cut and interest rates increased.

After promising, huge spending Albozo and his 40 thieves are faced with either being fiscally responsible and breaking promises or having interest rates skyrocket.

The earliest the new parliament could sit is July, as the newly elected Senators were only eligible to take up their seats from July 1st. Nothing to say about Constable Clod, upon being elected Opposition Leader taking a two month OS holiday! Labor has inherited a trillion dollars of Liberal Party debt, with nothing to show for it, except a few billionaires getting richer as ScumO' and Friedbrain lined their pockets with taxpayer cash. Unemployment under Labor is now at a 50 year low, and workers have been awarded a modest pay increase, something the Coalition opposed.

Paul,

Firstly the House does not require the Senate to sit at the same time, secondly, it is nearly August and the election was in May, and the house sitting dates are determined by Labor to accommodate Albozo's OE. Albozo certainly hasn't been quick out of the starting blocks.

Albozo has to deal with inflation, Labor's $800bn debt, and his impossible 43% carbon cut by 2030.

SM,

No doubt Gerry Harvey will agree with you. As for the trillion dollar debt, its all down to the Coalition, they were the ones spending like drunken sailors, don't try and tag Labor with that disgrace. The reckless spending, economic mismanagement, cash rorts and pork barrelling by the Coalition has left us with massive debt and surging inflation, which will take time to bring under control. Inflation relatively quickly, but the Liberal debt will take 60 years to pay off with the best of estimates.

Paul,

Labor is entirely responsible for Labor's $800bn debt so stop trying to blame it on the coalition. The last time Labor took over they had $90bn cash in the bank.

That the inflation is surging is due to Labor's promise to spend 10s of $bns more than the coalition. They are also responsible for the huge interest increases.

I see Labor is already backing away from its promises. I see real wage increases are out of the window.

So the sky is falling, the economy is collapsing and we're all doomed after just one day of Parliament with no legislation yet passed and the sins of the previous regime are now entirely the fault of the new encumbents?
Amazing.

Meanwhile the expected inflationary effects of Jobkeeper and other economic stimulii are now showing up and the Reserve Bank waited too long to take some heat out of the economy but it's suddenly all the new treasurer's fault.

Nobody ever mentions that the mythical "surplus" announced by Howard in his last Budget was effectively all spent in a desperate bid to buy votes in the election later that year. I remember how much it annoyed Costello who thought if Howard magically won and then retired, he would be left with nothing after all his "work", but hey, let's all keep pretending about what marvellous financial managers the Libs are, in spite of all the facts and obvious statistics to the contrary.

If it makes their supporters even angrier, so much the better.

Rache,

When you have a fwit claiming that the $800bn debt was $1T and entirely due to the coalition, it needs to be pointed out that Labor took a $90bn surplus (at the time labor took over) and left a roughly $200bn debt, much of it in the second term when there was no crisis.

All the time the coalition was doling out compensation to those isolated, Labor was calling for more to be spent. Even now they are going to continue the cash splash even though the need for it has largely gone.

Labor is happy to claim credit for the strong economy and low unemployment that the coalition left, but blame it for all the rest.

The reality is a booming economy and high employment increase inflation. Labor has had 2 months to start cutting spending to control inflation but are happily going to spend even more.

With one trillion dollars of Liberal debt, mostly spent handing out cash grabs to their mates down at the big end of town, and with all their rorting and pork barrelling no wounder Australia is in a financial mess.

I believe on the first day on the job The Big Chief down at GS walked into Josh's office, Josh was busy shredding $100 bills.

Big Boss; "Friedbrain, what are you DOING!"
Josh; "Shredding 100 dollar bills, I got from the company vault"
Big Boss; "WHY?"
Josh "That's what I did when I was Treasurer, shred peoples money, isn't that what you employed me to do?"

Big Boss; "NO!, Your're fired! Take your shredder and GET OUT!"

With the $1T dollars of Labor and Greens debt due to rampant Labor greens greedy corruption, it is a shock to the taxpayers that these corrupt morons are back in power.

I can believe that Green MPs are joyfully celebrating by snorting recreational substances through $100 bills.

Sometimes I wonder whether the bollocks in shadowmister's posts are due to brain damage.

SM has suddenly created a trillion dollars of Labor and Greens debt, delusional in the extreme. When even the most deranged know its Liberal debt, run up by ScumO' and Friedbrain pandering to their cronies down at the big end of town. Gerry Harvey for example pocketed $12 million to boost his bottom line and pay big bonuses to his business mates.

Only a mental retard would say that there is $1T created by the coalition.

Most of the debt is related directly to labor and now they are in charge they have to deal with it and the inflation.

Albozo's plan is to ramp up spending, debt and inflation. Labor has already lied about reducing electricity prices increasing wages etc.

This could be a one term wonder.
