The more sombre types in the UK Office of Budgetary Responsibility predict a meagre return of 0.08% to the UK economy, but a loss of 4% in loss of free access to the EU.

Most Australians wouldn't know about the trade agreement, and wouldn't care if they did.

Fairly standard for these types of opinions.

It has got lots to say about how much this or that industrial group fear free-trade with a more efficient competitor.

But not a passing note or acknowledgement that a more efficient competitor not saddled with tariffs and other non-tariff barriers will be able to sell product more cheaply, which is, of course the main concern of the whining industry groups.

That is, the consumers (remember them?) will get product at a reduced price. But as with all anti-free-trade dogmatists, the consumer (ie the vast bulk of the population) is the last thing on their mind.
