To defend a continent the size of Australia the slow diesel submarines
could take a week or more to get from one side of the country to another.
As I understand it the Nuclear subs run at 25knots,2 or 3 times the
speed of the others. The war would be over before they got there.
Perhaps UAVs, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, are perhaps the future for
countries like Australia.

Interesting that people are still talking about Australia getting noisy underwater steam ships.
On the land side of things China has more of its defence personnel on weekend leave than we have people in the ADF.
