Beijing will seek to exploit Afghanistan’s mineral wealth, if it can. But, given that the US's $2 trillion input into Afghanistan didn’t work, it’s hard to see how China's extracting of $1 trillion in mineral wealth from Afghanistan will create a markedly better future for anyone but China. China doesn't give a damn about the sandpit or its people. Besides, it's pretty nutty of even China to think the Taliban can be dealt with like a normal government.

If that was ever the goal!? Then it has fallen flat on its bountiful belly with thunderous reverberations and extreme loss of face! And speaks to me of inmates running the asylum!?
