Why I closed my Facebook account : Comments

By Craig Minns, published 4/8/2021

I'm watching it become a tool to divide and censor and worse, to be promoting self-censorship, not based on any principle of good citizenship or ethical argument, but simply through its use of rigid rules.

Graig hasn't bothered us for five years, but now his post won't open.

I read what set you off Craig and what you wrote that inspired the sheepish comment. And conclude the following. two wrongs don't make a right. Or put another way, two wongs don't make a white. The latter might be considered politically incorrect. But my Asia friends are not offended given they know it's just humour.

Also, believe you are just being too precious and thin-skinned. Anybody seeking political office need to allow the occasional ib to run off like water.

Me, I would have replied, Q. how do you know when so and so is on the level? A. when he/she dribbles equally out of both sides of the mouth.

That said, nobody is twisting your arm or massaging your very obvious ego to get you to reverse a decision to close your Facebook account. And incredibly dumb for a would-be pollie.

However, not all that surprising for a member of the labour party! Given, four-fifths of them are not the brightest stars in the firmament, albeit, have egos that are a danger to shipping?

No offence intended and without bias.

If you need to stress over FB, maybe you have an anxiety disorder that should be addressed.

And admitting to membership of the Labor Party also puts you in a suspect category.

Small things amuse small minds fits here.

There's a war of ideologies going on and Craig apparently got stuck in the middle perhaps. But I believe that the far left is winning the war on social media.

There is always the uncertainty of "the fog of war". At some point all you can do is choose a side.

The sad thing is if you choose not to use the same weapons as the enemy they will just shoot you. This leads us to the philosophy "we fight so we can have peace" Clausewitz, Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, others.

The lunatic left along with nutbag 'personalities' like Tim Minchin are campaigning in their print press and online for people to enter "no religion" on next Tuesday's Census to "save us from our religious government". Apart from Morrison's happy clapping in his private life, I haven't noticed anything religious about the Leftist Liberals.

A well written article Craig.
I have also closed my Facebook account for reasons of its censorship.
It is a hard thing to do when considering you also lose contact with your non political friends and acquaintances, but worth it in the long run.

I suggest you try Gab, a small social media site but growing every day due to actions of Facebook, Twitter, Google etc
