China’s stranglehold over PNG and South Pacific trade a crisis for Australia : Comments

By Jeffrey Wall, published 8/6/2021

Australia has, via the Pacific Step Up program, made very little difference. The simple truth is that China's domination of these key sectors has not slowed at all.

Another "massive wake up call" from Mr. Wall, this one kicked off by the idiotic 'Guardian'. All "forensic", no less. Not sure that New Zealand is an "ally" when it comes to China, just because they are white and speak English; they seem to be getting more like PNG when it comes to Communist China: anything for a dollar.

Australia's response to the shenanigans of both PNG is unquestionably "wholly inadequate". Australian governments and greedy companies have been inadequate ever since ASIO began warning both about the dangers of dealing with Communist China eleven years ago.

Fancy even having to talk about Australia in any context that includes Communism!

Fishing? Australia has the third largest fishing zone in the world. But we have the LOWEST fish harvest - 1/30th of the global average. The management of our fisheries is the most expensive, restrictive and the least productive in the world.

On the GB reef, for instance, only 9kg/square km is harvested. The WRI says that a well-managed reef could sustain 15,000kg/square km.

In the Coral Sea, Australia's catch is less than 11,000 tons, while PNG takes 250,000 tons from the same area, certified as sustainable.

What we catch is canned in Thailand, and we IMPORT up to 90,000 tons of fish annually.

It costs us $250,000 million a year to import canned tuna our ever-so-stupid government will not allow our fisherman to catch.

Far from doing anything to loosen the Communist "stranglehold", the Morrison government is enabling it.

As this trade crisis occurred we had a reactive government trying to shut the stable door, long after this horse had well and truly bolted. When what was required was a proactive government well in front of the curve, with regard to all these matters!

Instead, we have a navel-gazing government with its primary focus on winning the next election and staying in power, almost to the exclusion of all else?

And probably means we are emasculated and can do SFA about any of this, let alone outspend China in any trade negotiation with the cargo cult nations of the SP.

Therefore, I believe we need to see this as a lost cause and consolidate where we can?

It'd be very different if we were a nuclear power with an economy supported by MSR thorium, cooperative capitalism and energy retailed for around 1 cent PKWH.

I believe, China is likely to overextend itself here, if we just give her enough rope to hang herself with?

And instead of reacting as we do! We need to crack on, ASAP, building a robust exporting economy able to challenge the might of the biggest economies where it counts! In the global export economy!

And only possible with the above economic paradigm powering up our economy!

The fact that the, I believe, demented self-absorbed fools on the hill (all of them) cannot, will not see this! Thoroughly explains our predicament?

The legendary, blind and profoundly deaf Helen Keller saw and heard more than the rabble on the hill!

There is a degree of implacable blind stubbornness and selective hearing on that hill that would all but support a diagnosis of early mass contagious dementia?

I went to the levy but the levy was dry. Those good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye. The day that the music died.

They're not listening, they're not listening, perhaps they never will?

Australia let it happen.
Even Radio Australia shortwave has been closed down.
Best not blame China, except for debt traps.

Spot on ttbn.

Hi Alan B, Why are leftists like you & the grauniad complaining about Pacific Australasia being colonised by Communist China?

It was an Australian leftist plan all along & it's working perfectly well.

YOU wished for this & voted for it, enjoy what you have created, bask in the glory of your achievements.

Hi JF Aus, 100% correct.

The Labor-Green Socialist Alliance with Communist China planned all this, decades ago & their 100% evil scheme is working perfectly well.
