One Toowoomba woman’s response to the Australia-wide #march4justice : Comments

By Shirley Owen, published 15/4/2021

Women have striven to assert their right to equity, but it was not until the late nineteenth century that real progress started to take place. Today we are at another watershed moment in our nation's political history.

I don't know how much harm it does to the boys Bazz, but I reckon it is doing a fair bit of harm to the girls. My eldest, now a mother of teen agers tells me that, many girls now thinks it is normal to send naked selfies to their boy friends.

This whole thing seems overblown... and nutty.
I want to remind you that it's 2021 - not 1955.

I reckon a large percentage of these 'seemingly damaged' women who have it in for men, were probably the first ones to go out get drunk and hook up with some guy when they were young and pretty.

Now that they're not, or because they have regrets in their lives they attribute to men (when truthfully it was probably their own choice at the time) -they want to lay out every grievance any man ever did against them out like a weird victim impact statement.
I don't get really get it.

- And I see a disconnect from reality here:

Ban Porn from Toowoomba?
What's the plan exactly?
Block porn sites ONLY in Toowoomba, ban 'males and females sending nudes of themselves', so block Facebook Instagram Snapchat etc. too?
(Yes that's what the younger generation raised with technology, camera phones with internet actually do now)

Don't you know there's messenger apps where the content AUTOMATICALLY deletes a set amount after the content is viewed?
What are you going to ban social media platforms?
Ban Google and Apple and their app stores in Australia?

Maybe put camera's in everyone's bedrooms and loungerooms?

FYI, They're a very conservative city Toowoomba, but they must like sex because every family has about 7 or 8 kids.

'Make sure people under 18 don't view porn sites';
- How are you going to achieve this exactly, realistically?
What do you think the people at the council and in government don't watch porn?
What should people provide photo identification to the porn website before being allowed to view content?
How do you think that's going to turn out?

As long as porn sites aren't showing any illegal or non-consenting behavior what does it matter?

And what if your girlfriend LIKES to get drunk, and have wild sex like an energizer battery
- Including having their butt smacked, hair pulled and other sordid things that go beyond conservative vanilla-sex?
- And why is it even anyone else's business anyhow?

Why is it anyone else's busienss anyway?

Because the author believes that women are inferior and like children incapable of responsibility for their own choices, and so they need the patriarchal state to step in and make laws to protect them.

Shirley makes a reasonable point, and its a fact pornographic exploitation does have an influence in the subjugation of women, but its certainly not the be all and end all of the problem.

"Perhaps she doesn't realise that the majority of nude photos are of silly little very average girls, posting nude photos, often selfies of themselves on free sites. I can only assume this is average girls, non lefty feminists, wanting to feel sexy." Well Hassy just lock yourself in your tool shed and double check if that's still the case. How do you know that?
