Nimble Failure: the Australian COVID-19 vaccination program : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 14/4/2021

Part of the monumental failings of the government can be put down to its stubbornness in prioritising the use of one vaccine.

The author did not mention one determining factor in the Scomo Liberal/National Government's decision to go with the AstraZeneca vaccine, apart from the local manufacture through CSL, and that is the price- $5 a bottle, compared to $25 for the Pfizer vaccine. Scomo & Co would naturally have gone for the cheapest in the market; and now it is being offered to those over 50 years of ago- "the expendables", while the younger generation get the dearer vaccine- as they have more years to live and pay taxes to the Government. Simple isn't it?

If Binoy Kampmark was as enlightened as he is so desperately trying to portray himself as, why didn't he bring all these issues up last year ?
Why didn't he tell the World then that the production of the vaccines should have started earlier & in much greater quantity ?
Why didn't he warn us of COVID-19 before it was spread all over the World !

Under corporate governance, the movers and groovers at the helm of our future, have so inured themselves from the fallout to others, of farming out Government responsibility to fellow corporates, they have lost touch totally with consequences to those others, the we, who face those consequences.

Add the total incompetence of the vaccine roll out, to ignoring the pain of an out of control housing crises, which throws anybody that attempts to live under that particular umbrella, onto the street, through unaffordable escalating rents, with nowhere to go as an alternative, fast becoming the crisis to eclipse all other crises.

In the both serious cases, the same divorced mentality applies.

Dan.

From Terry Barnes this morning:

"Labor senses it’s on a winner highlighting shortcomings and stuff-ups on the Covid vaccine front. It is offering free advice to the government like a bar-room lawyer after a few beers. And just about as reliably."
