It's a shambolic stuff up! And only because some halfwit control freak pollies want to slow the pace of the spread not eliminate it? All while claiming they care about the vulnerable who are being bumped of by this contagion.

First, Not much worse than the common cold!

Then a pandemic? No way?

America the epicentre? What have you been smoking?

Mutate? Nah? It's pretty stable.

Island quarantine? What a ridiculous idea.

Leave the staff in place on the chosen islands to eliminate cross-infection with a pathogen that can survive on some surfaces for as long as a month and inside the victim for as many as three months or more?

must we wait for widespread reinfection that completely shut down the economy a dozen or more times before these idiots get themselves and their idiotic right-wing control freak views out of the way? And allow pragmatism and sanity to prevail.

Get the quarantine offshore or out of major population centres you deleted expletive idiots!

Don't allow staff to move between quarantine and the general public but make sure they go to another offshore island transition phase before being turned loose on their fellow Aussies! You deleted expletive halfwits!

And ensure masks remain mandatory! Until we have no identified case anywhere, for at least 28 days!

You were supposed to learn from the Spanish flu and how we finally defeated it!

Instead, you come up with all this slow the pace/flatten the curve control freak rubbish! And let's roll out the1 5 minute home test kits we invented here!

And mandate them at all border control and urban hot spots Even if all that achieves is the identification of the blissfully unaware, Asmptomaic superspreaders!

Lastly, use automated lack of detected (5-minutes) movement, UV disinfection lights, in any unused rooms/hallway etc, between quarantined occupation

Of course we could just stop ALL overseas arrivals, until the rest of the world is free of infection.

Recently, Ian McNamara told his Sunday morning audience he'd just lost a good mate to prostate cancer. He joins millions around the world who've lost family and friends to cancer! Which exterminates more than 2 million of us annually! Annually the death toll from the virus is what?

The unremitting death toll from cancer across all demographics over the last thirty-some years has exceeded 60 million Globally?

And has poured trillions into big pharma's coffers as they, the medical fraternity and the cancer industry reaped a substantial share of these rivers of gold!

As bismuth 213 was routinely ignored1 An alpha particle that has proved time and again, for over half a wasted century, to be massively effective against many forms of death sentence!

Must we wait for the PM to lose a member of his intimate family before we get MSR thorium and its child, the virtually free byproduct, miracle cancer cure, bismuth 213?

Thorium comes with very valuable rare earths and like lithium, beryllium and Nickle, must be mined!

Alleged corrosion has been remediated with the carbonising of the metals, via the old heating to the colour of straw and oil bath plunge?

And tritium production is solved by using a nitrate salt as the heat transfer medium. where it's absorbed. All that's required now? The missing political will! Maybe it's still on holiday in beautiful Hawai?

Currently, I understand China has installed a number of operational thorium reactors in several sites and military equipment/vessels And probably is the place we will have to go to, cap in hand, for treatment with bismuth 213?

But only if we can get an exit visa from the extremely recalcitrant, Australian government? Do we have embassies in China? And could an embassy car be used to ferry day clinic patients back and forth the once or twice required?

Chances of that level of that doable/available level of compassion? 2 to the minus 100?

I disagree Hasbeen. but then I don't have shares in exclusive high-end inner-city hotels!

Quarantine can be in a luxury tent on a sandy shore on an Australian, tropical island paradise!? But not reap very much profit for the money-faced Hasbeens and financially conflicted pollies? A month of sea snd and surf would be terrible torment, wouldn't it?

Then we wonder why it's spreading like wildfire in the US and UK? Too many of Hasbeen's feeble-minded, old, old mates (twerk it baby, bumbling blimp-bums) at the helm and calling the shots?

Actually Alan, if you grew up enough to think about it, you would realise the UK problem is it has kept it's overseas arrivals on going. It is much more dependent on tourism & hospitality, & they decided they couldn't afford to stop it.

Yes a tropical island could be good for quarantine, but only in a purpose built facility where the latest arrivals can't infect those nearing the end of their stay. It would also have to have the staff, some of whom are going to become infected confined to the facility for extended periods.

I hate the fact that it has only been by restricting the movement of the possibly infected that we have been able to control the spread in Oz. Open the gates to a flow of tourists, returning Ozzies, or particularly Chinese university students, & just watch the infection rate explode here too.
