Found this interesting article posted yesterday on the web showing how China seems to be on the back foot in Europe:
http://www.aspistrategist.org.au/chinas-171-initiative-stalls-amid-security-concerns-and-broken-promises/ China is becoming increasingly isolated in the wake of the pandemic and a souring of relations with the West. I saw where the US is not giving visas to Chinese students on the grounds that it believes that they are Chinese agents. Yet Soot Morrison and his disciples want to force our international border open at any risk to bring in millions of cashed up Chinese into Australia but I never see Soot questioning the nature of the immigrants in the same way the US is doing. So what's going on? Why don't we just open the floodgates and let the Chinese pour in? Sydney is for all intents and purposes a Chinese city so a few more million Chinese on its streets won't make any difference. Posted by Mr Opinion, Friday, 23 October 2020 4:58:59 AM

Thanks for the link. Interesting.
Re your query, " what's going on ...", do remember, humour is a two way street and sarcasm is weak trait. We no Lantin translation of the " Latin is a dead dead language, it killed the ancient romans and now its killing me" Posted by Alison Jane, Friday, 23 October 2020 6:44:31 AM

Alison Jane,
I don't think Soot Morrison wanting to force open the international border with the aim of swamping Australia with cashed up Chinese constitutes a joke or sarcasm. For me, large-scale Chinese migration = parasites, spies, and environmental degradation. Sounds like a good title for a book. Soot is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea: he wants to bring in millions of cashed up Chinese but also needs the US to protect Australia from the Chinese. Talk about a contradiction! Question is can we be Chinese and not be Chinese at the same time? Posted by Mr Opinion, Friday, 23 October 2020 6:58:19 AM

As a migrant from UK, I have been in Oz (and now a dual citizen) more than UK.
All overeats borders are a risk what with global m24/x365-6 travel ( 1o million in air every day if I recall. When I first came here ( my post PhD conf tour reward from my mean supervisor we were all anti bacterial/pesticide(/ or what ever it was)sprayed before landing an even at the mid stop off point. Why not now? Also come on give me the translation in Latin. Posted by Alison Jane, Friday, 23 October 2020 7:46:14 AM

Alison Jane,
I have forgotten all the Latin and Greek I learnt so I'm the last person you want to be getting a translation from. Like everything, if you don't use you lose it. I only studied languages to supplement my primary studies. Also did German, French, Italian which is alright because I can follow some SBS shows and read stuff which is handy when travelling in Europe. Also did some Japanese (I still don't know why) and could write in katakana and some hiragana but now couldn't put two characters together. Things people do in their youth. But I'm definitely not learning Chinese that's for sure. Posted by Mr Opinion, Friday, 23 October 2020 7:59:06 AM

Answer- Thanks for your comments Mr Opinion. I guess we will all see what happens with Taiwan- I don't think we will have to wait long.
I respectfully disagree with Alison Jane- I think that the Democrats would be less likely to go to war with China in this case (than the Republicans)- as the far left is mostly supportive of China- for example in the case of Hong Kong.
However Alison Jane is probably correct in her history.
There is much in which I agree with Alison Jane- at least on this thread
