By Augusto Zimmermann, published 29/9/2020As well as being profoundly irrational and damaging to our freedom and to our economy, elements of the Australian lockdowns may well be unlawful.

I suggest we ask those whingeing maggots to socialise with COVID-19 infected people & see how they react to that !

There are millions of Chinese with Australian residency visas who cannot come home because they cannot get out of China.
It's a national disgrace. All those QANTAS and Virgin jets that are sitting around idle should be sent over to China to airlift these millions of Aussies and bring them home. Posted by Mr Opinion, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 8:08:05 AM

There is nothing good to be said about the bungling Coalition's handling of the China virus, nor the uselessness of the Labor Opposition, which sits back, glad that it is not in power. Then there's the truly rotten, extreme Socialist, Victorian government, whose leader is too stupid to see that his police state is the only one with a problem with the China virus, despite his draconian removal of democracy. The idiotic "national cabinet" is probably illegal, and Australia has been compared with North Korea in it's refusal to allow Australians to leave the country.
However, should we be sympathising with people now clamouring to return to Australia? What were they doing overseas in the first place? Why didn't they return when the China virus was first shown to be a problem? They had plenty of time and opportunity. Given that many, many of these "Aussies" are merely Australians of convenience, born elsewhere, I say, 'Stiff cheese". If they were born here, but Australia hasn't been good enough to live in permanently, the same sentiment applies. Posted by ttbn, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 9:42:35 AM

Disagree with everything you say, but would put my life on the line to protect your right to say it!

ttbn,
Australia is now an Asian nation-state as a result of the Great Asianization Period (1980-2020) in Australian history so I implore you to embrace your Asianess and bring home those millions of cashed-up Chinese with residency visas who cannot get out of China. We need their money for a good old-fashioned Scotty Morrison "Snap Back" to restart the economy. Posted by Mr Opinion, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 10:36:27 AM

> Of course, quarantine should be only for the sick and never for the healthy.
WHAT AN IDIOTIC CLAIM! Quarantine should also be for those suspected of having a serious contagious infection, until it is clear that they don't. Posted by Aidan, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 12:50:11 PM

Aidan,
Totally disagree with you. We've just got to learn to live with the WuFlu. So get out from under the doona (got that off Scotty) and if you get sick and die from the WuFlu then that's just your bad luck. Now get out there and start bringing home all those cashed-up Chinese with residency visas who are stuck in China. If there are any who are a bit cautious about coming just tell them they can stay at your house. Posted by Mr Opinion, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 1:01:15 PM

Perhaps the quarantine restrictions & number of places available, set up to minimise the importation of new virus cases is restricting the good professors earning capacity, or fun & games. Well diddums professor, do try to fit in to the country you wish to have as your adopted home. If it doesn't suit you, go feel free to try somewhere else.
Any "caught" over seas had ampule opportunity to return to Oz, & if they failed to make the sensible decision at the right time, have no one to blame but themselves. As for quarantine costs, please tell me just why it is the responsibility of the Oz tax payer to fund the mistakes of globe trotting fools. All too many Ozzies are suffering a much grater cost than these globe trotters, & have absolutely no obligation to help those who did not help themselves when they could have. So I suggest, as courteously as I possibly can, pull your bloody head in. Posted by Hasbeen, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 1:17:57 PM

individual,
People like AlanBS wouldn't put their lives on the line for any opinion they don't like. All BS. AlanBS doesn't even tell us whose opinion he is talking about. The author's or one of the posters'. Posted by ttbn, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 1:51:52 PM

Aidan,
Here it is, Scotty is going to let the millions of Chinese with residence visas come to Australia as long as they quarantine at your house: http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/aussies-could-be-allowed-to-quarantine-at-home-instead-of-hotels/ar-BB19w0ob?ocid=msedgntp You lucky bastard! Mr 0,
Your rants are so incoherent I can't tell whether you're being sarcastic. What point are you trying to make? Posted by Aidan, Tuesday, 29 September 2020 6:21:07 PM

Aidan,
Before I can answer your question I first need you to tell me if you are an intellectual or a pseudo-intellectual. Posted by Mr Opinion, Wednesday, 30 September 2020 8:50:40 AM

Mr 0,
Why would that be? Does it alter the point you were trying to make? If so, how? FWIW I'm not a pseudo intellectual, and whether I qualify as an intellectual depends on what definition you use. Posted by Aidan, Thursday, 1 October 2020 12:01:17 PM

Aidan,
What makes you think you are not a pseudo-intellectual? I think you are a pseudo-intellectual because you do not have anything to support your knowledge. I think you just make things up as you go along, relying on Wikipedia for snippets of information. A primary school kid can do that. Posted by Mr Opinion, Thursday, 1 October 2020 12:56:21 PM

Mr 0,
For a start, a pseudo-intellectual would always claim to be an intellectual! Your dodgy assumption that I don't have anything to support my knowledge is a blatant attempt to shift the goalposts. I notice you haven't answered the question about whether (and if so how) my intellectual status would alter the point you were trying to make, nor the question about what that point is. But I think I'll go with Ockham's Razor and conclude (in the absence of any evidence to the contrary) that you had no real point to make, but instead are metaphorically throwing mud and hoping some of it will stick. Aidan,
You're a pseudo-intellectual. You might be able to fool the others but you can't pull the wool over old Mr Opinion's eyes. Here's a definition I just pulled off the web: A person exhibiting intellectual pretensions that have no basis in sound scholarship; a person who pretends an interest in intellectual matters for reasons of status. I also found a solution to your problem: Don't stake yourself to an opinion on a topic you don't know anything about. Admit you are not familiar with the topic and not prepared to take a stand. Avoid parroting the ideas of others without exploring differing views or ideas. You're not alone. Other well-known pseudo-intellectuals on The Forum OLO are shadowminister, Bazz, Hasbeen, Loudmouth, Josephus, and individual. Posted by Mr Opinion, Friday, 2 October 2020 6:50:55 AM

It's like a grown man playing the part of a 4yo stamping its feet.
So, your uni buddy got special permission from the foreign affairs department to attend his mother's funeral in Hungary, and he can't get back and your mad because Aussies have to go through quarantine? Tough situation for your mates mum, but sorry no special treatment. Everyone's got to follow the same rules, you don't get an exemption because you think you're more special than others. Mr 0,
Why would I want to pull the wool over the eyes of the blind? This board is not a scholarly discussion; you generally won't see evidence of sound scholarship from anyone, though people may occasionally supply it when challenged. Are you really unaware of the above? A scholarly discussion wouldn't be anywhere near as tolerant of your ad hominems! But I am curious about something: what led you to presume my interest isn't genuine? I'm pleased you've found a solution, but the problem is yours not mine. If you apply it to your own posts, their quality will improve greatly. Posted by Aidan, Friday, 2 October 2020 1:39:54 PM
