The Abrams is the best tank in the world, therefore the correct decision was made.
The self propelled guns used by the Germans to great advantage towards the end of WW2 was a cost/material/time measure not because they were the better alternative.
What is the cost comparision of an Abrams to a 155mm Palidin SPA

In your article you mention Abrams Tanks as being the best in the world. How can this be when a company-sized group of American Abrams crew walked up to a Challenger 2 crew and said "we'd love some of those!".

And with what you said about the Abrams working with American forces, our (the British) Navy is having to do it with their new supercarriers.
