...... turning an inconsequential scientific ‘comment’ into something far more significant than what it actually is.

Two quick observations.

There are a lot of pretend "expert scientists" out there. Carefully examining their actual areas of expertise relative to the topics, on which they pontificate, will often expose them.

There seems to be an ideology amongst greenies that "do nothing" is always the best policy for the environment. The reality is that such lack of action contributes geatly to a range of environmental problems, including the spread of noxious animals and weeds through to mega-fires every 20 years or so. The green lobby is the greatest single opponent of hazard reduction burning, which is the most effective tool available in minimising the risk of disastrous bushfires.

The media is the main problem; without it scientific activists would never be heard, and common sense would prevail. The lunatics that Chanel 7, for instance, is dragging out to talk nonsense as interest in and 'news' about the China virus wanes is a good example of the media's irresponsibility.

Interesting article.

All public issues should require input from those actually involved in the particular policy area of concern.

It appears that the academic "experts" pontificating on forests are about as knowledgeable, & visit their subject about as often as James Cook experts know of, & visit the Great Barrier Reef.

Is it any wonder that a rapidly increasing number of people no longer have any faith in anything coming out of academia today?

Time for any serious academic scientists to start remembering that "by the company you keep, so are you judged. It is the reputation of all academics that these clowns are destroying.

whenever activist or the abc want to push a lying narrative they invoke some 'scientific expert'. True scientist are then replaced by Greta. This pandemic has exposed just how useless many 'experts' are especially when they rely on modelling.

runner, when you actually know and understand some/any science, you'll be better placed to talk from a lo higher! I mean you're full of it, aren't you?
