Things will be quite different in two years. Is Morrison and his government thinking that far ahead?

" We now have many thousands of ICU beds and ventilators with less than a hundred required for virus cases."

We sure have. What waste of money - all due to panic caused by misinformation from 'models'. As with climate change, models and people in thrall to them are going to drag us further and further down.

"Is Morrison and his government thinking that far ahead?" There's a good one! Particularly coming from a man who has only just left the 'job'. Politicians thinking ahead! The very thought of it! In two years time, it's more than possible that the economic mess caused by Morrison's Big Government socialism and stonkering of businesses and jobs will still be around, giving a very good chance for Labor, which has nothing to offer under the virtually invisible Albanese, a chance to take over and finish us off completely.

" … at a time when the private sector has been decimated, significantly due to Government policy, what is the Government doing? Growing ever larger." (Anon blogger). And the workforce has had one million people ripped out of it by bull-at-gate Morrison, panicked by 'experts' who don't know much more about virology than he does

Other poisoned chalices for Morrison are immigration and climate. Sen. Keneally seems to have opened a can of worms on the former. Recall the snubs to Morrison by fire affected people a few months ago. If there is a repeat next summer Morrison will have to respond better. The trouble is his evangelical religion. It says we need more people and climate change is trivial. Perhaps he is not right for the times.

The next federal election, David!? Honestly, is that foremost in any mind except yours?

The next election is the furthermost worry on every Australian mind!

If we have learned anything from this pandemic?

The business as usual political bun fight has to be jettisoned in favour of pragmatic bipartisan cooperation and those currently in charge held to account for their outcomes.

The next election has to have at its central focus, the recovery, plus a contest of new, big bold ideas!

And the timely transition to nuclear energy! That'll unlock billions!

Divisive, divide and rule specialists like yourself/Hansen ought to have no place in any future election!

What we do not need are naysaying conflicted bean counters, obsessing over the size of the now essential deficit!

We face a future that has to be largely Automated/the rapid electrification of our economy so at long last we can become energy self-reliant!

Become a nation that exports more than we import. to that end, we should peg our dollar to gold and fix it at 75cents in the comparison.

Essential automation means there has to be a significant pause on immigration!

Otherwise, our dollar and migration numbers, will bounce around like yoyos and we will not be able to support a new cohort of permanently unemployed.

As for trade, we should extend ultra generous credit to customers with competent governments. And become an island of sanity where any nation with the cash can come and carry.

And rejig our own economy so we give all the tax breaks and subsidies to new startups and co-ops that can develop niche export markets for anything we can make or grow or process.

Anything and no limits on any value-added product or produce!

We also need our own shipping line to carry our own trade goods to market, we have some serious expertise in shipbuilding.

The cargos we could carry. the freight charges they'd earn over time more than repay any outlays for same! As the paradigm, ensure maximised returns to our export industries!

Govt needs to start force-feeding common sense & logic as soon as they can find where Labor hid them over the years !

Did anyone think that the time would would come when an Australian Treasurer would have to be provided with a 24/7 guard because of threats made against him. Well, that time has arrived.

Australia is rooted.

> Foreigners won't come if they have to go into quarantine on arrival, and
> Australians won't leave if they are required to go into quarantine on return.
Maybe not, but they will have the option - and that's important.

> If they choose one that favours social ownership of the means of production,
> distribution and exchange, Morrison's legacy won't be what he hopes.
Do you think such a party would even contest the lower house at the next election?

Let's hope that Morrison has a favourable judgment by the next election.

If he does, it will mean that Austalia has done well in relative social and economic terms when compared to most other countries

At the next election voters will remember this Govt's refusal to reduce Public Service salaries & doing extremely little to help long-term migrant workers despite them having paid many thousands of Dollars to this Govt. in Visa fees & income Tax.
I'm all for sending back those who have no interest in building this Nation & are not inclined to get off Welfare.
Spending hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in helping the spouses & sympathisers of Terrorists to bring them back but let genuine decent migrants/457 workers sink into despair is what's commonly regarded as heartless !
I wonder if the PM is using Pentecostal guidelines as a base for policies ?

individual,

Come next election the thing I will remember the most is the bright Hawaiian shirts worn by Soot 'Beam up me Scotty' Morrison.

How is it possible Prime Minister Morrison is not speaking about the low Covid death rate in Australia and fact there is no mass death pandemic?

no mass death pandemic?
JF Aus,
let's not celebrate too soon, COVID-19's successors will prove harder to deal with !
I think the only way we can keep a lid on it is by travel restrictions in every Flu season.
The whole show needs to change old habits if Soylent Green isn't to become a stark reality !

Hi individual,

Absolutely there is no Covid mass death pandemic in Australia because only 97 deaths in 6,819 known cases in our population of 24.99 million at this time and date, surely proves there is no mass death here.
Relax.
There is an increasing mass of evidence indicating death from other causes is being added to the Covid-19 death toll.
Being fair, a higher death rate due to Covid should be expected in some regions due to various circumstances. E.G Ital has the highed age-retired population in all Europe. London and New York are overcrowded and there is considerable poverty and also ignorance linked to undernutrition including due to inadequate sunlight that weakens natural immunity.

Compare impact of unjustified draconian restrictions on business and livelihood and need to afford shelter and adequate NUTRITIOUS food.

One of the most challenging factors is lack of discipline & consideration. COVID-19 has brought out some of these but only due to fear.
As each year passes without any attempts to regain common discipline, the situation will escalate. We need a National Service ! If someone has any ideas of a more successful method then please put it forward.
I'm still waiting to hear if incidents of crime have lessened during the enforced lock-down period & if they have then the proof is there that time spent under supervision reduces incidents of stupidity !

good question Individual. You can be sure there is a lot more unreported crime as people feed on the porn industry that regressives told us for decades was harmless.
