Epistemic tribalism and epistemic chaos would not be welcome imports from America : Comments

By John Wright, published 9/4/2020

There have been times in history when finding out the truth – or at least what was generally accepted as the truth – was fairly unambiguous and straightforward.

“They choose to believe what their tribe – the group they see themselves as belonging to – tells them is true. Once they have made this commitment to their tribe, it is easy to go the internet and find a wealth of info in support of their chosen view”.

Well now, there is a truth that sums up the Leftist posters on OLO. The more conservative posters tend to have a more individual outlook, and don’t go rushing to Google for support from the millions of ratbags who are free to put all sorts of rubbish onto the internet.

Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life. A man who never lied while all others have. A man that is totally trustworthy while few others are. The further away from Jesus Christ a person gets the more he/she is in deception. Killing babies will always be wrong, immorality will always be wrong, greed will always be wrong. The 'elite' have spent their lives trying to call evil good and good evil. Truth is actually easy to find but reveals to much about man's corrupt nature to be embraced. Reject the truth and people scramble to find some other fake model of ethics or religion.

Completely, totally, and utterly wrong, Keith Wright.

There is no institution beyond reproach, because every single time an institution becomes considered beyond reproach, the insiders, psychopaths, and those who know how to game the system for their own self aggrandisement, take advantage of this unquestioned authority to engage in questionable activity.

The Church blew it, and so did the so called "free press". Science has been corrupted from the inside by a small minority who knew they could use the public's great respect for science, to make governments lavishly fund their claim that their particular scientific discipline are the saviours of the world.

Churchill got it right when he said that every organisation created by man in the spirit of noble sentiments would eventually go rotten.

The internet, invented by scientists of the western Great Satan, the USA, is the greatest educating force ever invented. Keith claims that it is unreilable because there are sites who are pro and anti on every subject. But that is the best part of it. Any person wishing to seek the truth can look at sites for and against any subject and decide for themselves just who is telling the truth. Keith's article seems to suggest that ordinary people are just too stupid to listen to both sides and make informed decisions.

On this I strongly disagree with him.

One suspects that Keith is another elitist who thinks he and his particular caste know everything, and us working class peasants should just shut up and listen to what they, the intelligent ones, are saying to us Neanderthal peasants. Sorry Keith, the workers of the world have united. Against people like you.

runner,
I'm glad you hold that view. But I' m puzzled as to how you reconcile it with your support of Trump?

> Truth is actually easy to find
Only when your eyes are open! Remember God has not told us everything, but has left much for us to discover ourselves - some of which contradicts what we thought we knew.

ttbn,
I'm puzzled as to why you think that, as my views are often very different from others on the left. Could it be that you're eager to pigeonhole those on the left, and more interested in what those on the right have to say?

I don't know why this is supposedly imported from the US as it is a feature around the world.
