Boris Johnson, Brexit and the Roman Empire : Comments

By Peter Bowden, published 24/2/2020

We are all divided he says, into Euro-sceptics and Euro-philes. Some prefer their national customs, traditions and national governments; Others prefer forming a single unit out of disparate nations.

Without changing the present mentality, we have no hope of changing anything !
Number 1 strategy to change to a healthier mentality is a National Service. It worked in Australia all the way up until the Whitlam Govt , the major projects of then are the proof.
Once we have no longer crowds of unemployed young people milling in the streets at night, the economy will pick up because more people will become employable.
Less costs & effort due to reduction in crime related damages, win all round.
Stop worrying about Boris & the Roman Empire, start worrying about our own backyard !

"The legions abandoned Britannia in 410 BC. Britain's "dark ages began..""

I've often wondered if, when Rome pulled back its legions in a futile attempt to help defend their home base against the barbarians, it instead forsook Italy and moved its population to the much easier defend-able Britannia. The Huns, Goths and Vandals, et al were hardly the hi- tech types to build an armada of ships to take on the Roman galleys.
