Some people might be unaware that the Federal Court found that ABC's case against AFP search warrants was invalid, and ordered the ABC to pay costs, proving that ABC operatives posing as journalists are not exempt from the law.

Yes, Tbbn. Where is "Our ABC" on this important judgement.... nowhere to be seen, heard or even twittered. That is why is not our ABC, but rather "their ABC".
Will we ever have a government that enforces the ABC Charter... namely to report, rather than offer its staffs opinion? Posted by Alison Jane, Sunday, 23 February 2020 7:10:26 PM

I have no idea where this author is coming from.
Australia dropped out of the top twenty ranking for press freedom for the first time this year. Reporter without borders say; "Under the very conservative prime minister, Scott Morrison, the government has abandoned any attempt to regulate the media market. The space left for demanding investigative journalism has also been reduced by the fact that independent investigative reporters and whistleblowers face draconian legislation. Australia adopted one of the toughest defamation laws of the world’s liberal democracies in 2018, while its laws on terrorism and national security make covering these issues almost impossible." This author seems to be applauding this implying there is no moral or ethical basis to the ABC's case. Rubbish. Posted by SteeleRedux, Sunday, 23 February 2020 7:47:19 PM

That could also be interpreted as sabotage from within ! Posted by individual, Sunday, 23 February 2020 8:48:41 PM

Alison Jane,
While Boris Johnson is talking about turning the BBC into a subscription only network, thus relieving British taxpayers of paying for something they don't want, our Prime Minister and all those before him, have not had the courage to defund the ABC, which is extreme Left where the BBC is leftish. I find it amazing - stupid- that non-Green Labor (I cannot call them Conservatives) politicians ever appear on the ABC. They will never get a fair go. People who turn up knowing that ABC activists are only interested in trying to humiliate them are definitely not the sort of people with the mettle do anything to pull the ABC into line. Tony Abbott promised to do something, but he chickened out after the election - as he did with Sec. 18c and a few other things. Until we have a genuine Conservative party, nothing will change. AcidReflux thinks that "This author seems to be applauding this implying there is no moral or ethical basis to the ABC's case." Implying? It is quite clear to everyone but the lunatic Left that ABC operatives posing as journalists have no morals or ethics whatsoever. AcidReflux's final word, "Rubbish" is a fitting description of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Posted by ttbn, Sunday, 23 February 2020 8:55:33 PM

Does anybody have any respect for the legal profession?
The public ranks the social status of lawyers 4 out of 10. Posted by Mr Opinion, Monday, 24 February 2020 5:31:56 AM

1. Australian journalists need to realise that they enjoy no First Amendment rights to "freedom of the press" because Australia isn't the US.
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#Freedom_of_speech_and_of_the_press 2. Just like Australian gun enthusiasts do not enjoy the right to "keep and bear arms" under the Second Amendment to the US Constitution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitutio Posted by plantagenet, Monday, 24 February 2020 7:54:58 PM
