Trump’s attack on state-sanctioned terrorism is sure vote winner : Comments

By David Singer, published 21/1/2020

The Democrats irresponsible - and sometimes hostile - response to Trump's decisive action will cost them votes at the next elections.

I can't say whether or not zapping the Iranian murderer will be a vote-winner, but it was the right thing to do.

What I wonder about is, do the petulant, sore-losing Democrats do any of the duties they are paid to do, or do they spend all their time obsessing about Donald Trump? The latter seems to be true.

Possibly right David, given one can fool some of the people ((Dumbos) all of the time.

However, if the president and the senate are prepared to trash the constitution and create a precedent for further trashing other parts of that inoperative constitution can also be ignored or trashed, say, the right to bear arms?

Well done Donald Trump.

Interesting isn't it, to see Alan echoing the Democrats!

David Singer and ttbn are trying to justify what has been blatant criminal action by the US assassinating General Soleimani and a senior Iraqi military leader. Apparently largely prompted on behalf of the Criminal Apartheid Zionist Settler State in Occupied Palestine, which seems good at cajouling others to do dirty work it wants. Maybe Zionist sympathiser influencing the mainstream media would like it believed that this is a vote winner. However, I saw on some alternative news source that there were around 70 demonstrations against it in the US alone and more in other countries. Many people are appalled Especially as General Soleimani was in Iraq partly doing a diplomatic job and should have had immunity. Also to attend funeral for about 30 Iraqi soldiers murdered in their own country by a US atrocity attack.

Is important to note that General Soleimani for good reasons has been regarded as a national hero in Iran, where the Islamic Republic government needs to be repressive in some ways to counter all the tricks the US has been trying aimed at "regime change" ever since Iranians deposed their US puppet leader the Shah 40 years ago. Regarding allegations he sponsored terrorist activities, is basically the US accusing others of doing dirty things to detract from similar it has been sponsoring itself and General Soleimani has been involved in resisting. Important to note that the only way Iran has been threatening the US has been against its attempted increased hegemony in the Middle East. Basically opposing the US trying to facilitate their plundering resources and exploiting the people. Look at all the US military bases in the area which threaten Iran and they have been developing defensive capability against. Good to see the somewhat restrained but very damaging counter attack in response to the latest US atrocity. Bully should be reluctant to try again, especially as probably the next response would include targets in Israel, which has been encouraging this aggression.

Hey Mox,

Its always good to hear from the Jew-hating side of the argument. Some non-jews attack some other non-jews, in a non-jew country...so obviously its all the Jews fault. But always good for a laugh, Mox writes "restrained but very damaging counter attack in response...". Damaging? yeah I hear 3 rabbits and a camel were put off their food for a good 20 minutes. Or were you referring to the (restrained) killing of all those Irans on flight 752?

Now back to the real world.

Trump's action was just about perfect. The Iranian fascist regime is in a state of array and panic now that they finally realise they aren't dealing with Obama but instead with someone who is prepared to USE US power rather than apologise for it. Trump could have taken the big stick to Iran over the Saudi oil fields attack or over the downing of the drone but elected for peace rather than forcing Iran into irrational response.

But the killing of Soleimani showed the Iranian leadership that none of them are safe, that the US is prepared to use its power when necessary AND there's bugger all they (the Iranians) can do about it. Regime change may not happen and isn't even Trump's aim, although it'd be nice. While the IRGC remains loyal and is prepared to kill civilians, the mad Ayatollahs remain safe. But, as the country crumbles and its international adventurism becomes too expensive even for them, a new compliant Iran is possible.

Ultimately Trump's aim is to get out of the M-E since the USA no longer has any real strategic interests there. But he can only do it once its pacified. The Soleimani take-out goes some way to achieving that.

Iran sat up and took notice when Ronald Reagan took over from and line of weak presidents. They knew he meant business; now they know that Donald Trump means business.

Seems many people including those commenting above should be aware of and keep an eye on sources that provide news and views other than those publicising what the US government and some other western interests want believed. Much of the most scathing criticism comes from well informed commentators from within the US. Including ones who formerly held senior government or military positions. Important to note that among the worst warmongers trying to keep tensions high and orders to keep coming in for the military industrial complex have been draft dodgers - including Trump - who has obviously been pushed by others and John Bolton. Meanwhile at the other end of the scale is congressional rep from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard, who is currently standing for President. Hopefully will be successful in future. She has experienced first hand the horrors and futility of the US Middle East wars from two tours of duty as a medic in Iraq with the Hawaiian National Guard.

Note the US has invaded many largely defenceless countries on numerous pretexts while Persia /Iran has not invaded anyone for over 200 years. Have fought invaders though and been helping others do the same. Including assisting Syrians get rid of terrorists fighting a proxy war against its democratically elected government on behalf of western interests - particularly the US, who could not gain enough domestic support to send their own large scale invasion force.

Now look at Afghanistan The US and allies have got virtually nowhere defeating the Taliban in nearly 20 years. In Iraq, where they have long been causing destruction, their recent assassination of General Soleimani and a senior Iraqi military leader has given Iraqis added incentive to try and kick Yanks out and also support Iran. The US warmongers need to note that Iran is a much bigger country with a population of around 80 million. Virtually impossible for them to subdue by force. The recent limited retaliation by Iran demonstrated what they could quickly launch against all the US military installations nearby and Israel if there was a large scale attempted attack against them

At the time the Iranian General was killed he was NOT a citizen of the USA, he was NOT subject to USA law and he was NOT on US territory. He had not been convicted of any crime in a court having jurisdiction over him - in fact he had NOT been arrested NOR had he been charged with any offence.
Iran has a longer memory than the USA: at some point in the near future action will be taken against the US. The west will call this terrorism while Iran will call it payback.
Donald Trump's unilateral action, while under trial for impeachment, have set the elusive search for midddle-east peace back by decades. In whatever thinking matter he has he will see his actions as entirely justified. The survivors of the war he has just brought closer will disagree with him.

Those who criticised Trumps (anyone's) killing of this monster must be on substance abuse course.

I fear they either only do this to exercise their right to hate Trump (Clinton or Obama had done it, I suspect they would cheer)... or the believe terrorism national or international is a fair behaviour.

Bet none of them have had friends/family abused by terrorists!! Anyway, their braincells belong on Mars or Uranus!

To those who have kept an eye on what has been going on in the Middle East an alternative news sites, it is very obvious that terrorists have been sponsored and helped at times by the west- largely the US to fight proxy war on their behalf. Then sometimes they pretend to fight them as pretexts for sending their forces into areas and sometimes have to genuinely fight the monsters they partly sponsored. eg Look at all the times in Syria when US and Israeli made weapons and equipment have been captured by Syrians from terrorists.
