Australian media should unite to promote cultural diversity : Comments

By Priscilla Brice, published 6/12/2019

Social commentators in the media reports we sampled expressed racist views in both overt and covert ways, deploying a range of tactics such as dog-whistling, decontextualisation and irony.

Even worse are politicians who simply refuse to answer questions,
Alan B,
One of my favourite gripes. That's two-edged sword because a lot if not the majority of reporters aren't looking for facts, they're looking for any remark they can further their leftist agenda with !
7.30 Report, Q & A etc are simply just Common sense bashing forums !

What a rubbishy article. The media already spends an inordinate amount of time and effort pushing the multiculti agenda and other left-wing causes. Evidently that's still not enough to placate Priscilla Brice.

"A media monitoring report recently conducted by All Together Now found that a majority (57 percent) of race-related opinion pieces in the mainstream media over the past year were racist."

Somehow, I doubt this report looked at instances of anti-white racism in the media. Or anti-Anglo sentiment. Both of which are on the rise.

"Muslim Australians were the most frequently targeted, with more than a quarter (28 per cent) of the 281 media pieces sampled discussing Muslims and Islam in a negative way."

And what about anti-Christian sentiment? Was that examined?

In any case, it is patently idiotic to claim that discussing Islam - or any other religion - in "a negative way" equates to racism. A belief system is not an ethnic/racial group.

"Media organisations could move the needle by addressing diversity within their own ranks. In 2016, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) revealed that the average Australian media and entertainment employee was 27, male, Caucasian and living in Sydney's Eastern suburbs or the Inner West."

In other words, too many white people!

Priscilla Brice should lead by example and allow her position to be taken by a person of non-European ancestry.

Australian media is united but not in the way we hoped, or should I say monopolised there is currently little to no mainstream media outlets that I view with extreme scepticism, even the ABC with a misconception that its left wing Labor leaning, that couldn’t be further from the truth, it’s Government funded and it’s board stacked with a LNP picked directors. It’s no wonder Labor lost with the constant barrage of misinformation and smear campaigns. Bill Shorten was unpopular! Says who? Ask most ALP members and they’ll tell you the opposite, ask his voters base in Marbyrnong in Melbournes west and the answer will be the same, he’s a great guy I’ve met him and seen him around town he is down to earth, will give anyone the time of day and has done great things for his electorate. If Bill was so wooden, what was Howard?
