Queensland needs an inquiry into police domestic violence mindset : Comments

By Jennifer Hetherington, published 31/10/2019

The inadequate Punchard sentence has illustrated the appalling reality that too often the charges against the perpetrators of domestic violence do not reflect the seriousness of their crimes.

Speaking as victim of female on male domestic violence whose children were also abused by their violent mother. I say hear, hear.

But if we take DV seriously, will there be enough jails to hold all the female DV criminals, if we investigate, charge & convict them all?

Many women psychologically torture their hapless husbands & children. Almost all DV is perpetrated by women.

I'll even be more cynical. There are big dollars in DV. What is needed to access those dollars is a victim.
Unfortunately, DV advocates are steering the processes of dealing with it, in the direction of victimhood.
Your opinion of this authors vested interest is poignant: But I'm not convinced their entirely correct.

The problem has become one outside the real issue. The responses of the concerned authorities towards remedy are at best lacklustre, and at worst incompetent and disconnected.

The victims, (usually women), too often left floundering around bewildered by the addition of bad policing on top of a bashing. Disturbed children will be processed in ad hoc disregaurad, and forced, mostly against their will, into the vagaries of the child protection pipeline.
The incompetence of this lot is beyond staggeringly inept. Criminal disregard would oft not be an exaggeration.

Mine is a view from the bottom of the ladder looking up. The surest means of spotting arseholes.
And sadly for victims, it's my view which will be easily ignored, by those best equipped to change the whole approach to DV and its consequences.
The whole system, starting at the family court of Australia and working down through the connected string of those in authority making a killing in career paths and retirement benefits for themselves as a priority.

As this author did note in her example, getting the authorities to remove themselves from their comfort zones to deal with ineptitude and criminal activity is never guaranteed to succeed.

Hey Diver Dan,

Maybe I was a little hard on her...

I'll tell you what I like about this forum though:

"The incompetence of this lot is beyond staggeringly inept. Criminal disregard would oft not be an exaggeration.

Mine is a view from the bottom of the ladder looking up. The surest means of spotting arseholes. "

I like that it shows Aussies can still say it how it is and not easily fall for bs.
That we can mix common sense and merit whilst taking the piss;
That we can call out others when we think they're wrong and even throw in a bit of humour,
That we can do all that short and sweet.

That's the real thing that made this country awesome.

What we do need is an inquiry into ambulance chasing lawyers & the methods they use to rip off anyone they can.

@ Hasbeen, Armchair Critic, diver dan, etc...

Have either of you guys tried Men's Shed? It was started by marxist, male feminists for the specific purpose of keeping Australian men "on the plantation" feeling guilty about everything & serving the matriarchy.

Have any of you guys discovered MGTOW?
