Libra and Calibra: Mark Zuckerberg appears before Congress : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 29/10/2019

The manipulation of politics, the buying of votes, the wooing of legislatures, never began, nor will stop, with Facebook. Facebook is merely the acid manifestation of a long-term problem.

We all use Facebook, warts and all! The real problem is the loss of power of the traditional press to influence political outcomes and wealth distribution?

Facebook is like google, yahoo etc, part of our social media and freedom of speech!

And we can and do share information some would rather not have it out and embarrassing the living daylights out of them!

Any attempt now to exercise editorial, puritanical, moralistic, control over it is, shutting the stable door after the horse has well and truly bolted!

Too big to fail and much much too big to control!

As for what we watch or buy? It's all about informed choice, isn't it!

As for Libre (the Emporer's new clothes) If you don't understand it? Don't buy it! And if you don't like the views of the far-right? Use the Medium to expose them for who and what they really are!

And if that get p Zuckerbergs nostrils? Let him wear it along with his fellow far-right wing travellers!

Herr von Kampmark

I absolutely refute your characterisation of the typical commenter on OLO as an:

"asocial being who had to find his understanding of humanity through something called a "social network"...in mining the confessional, the exposure, the ridiculousness of [OLO] humans who are garrulous behind the screen and coming on it."

Yes. It may be partly true that OLO "brings out the voyeur in its" commenters and gives substance to our "profound shallowness."

After all, Herr von Kampmark, me is only pawn in game of Life http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKRma7PDW10

I'll sic Alan B. onto you.

Yours in Facebook
