Some of us were admiring Johnson's tenacity but apparently we are meant to laugh instead. I suspect the sky will not fall down if the UK leaves the EU. Switzerland seems to be doing OK somehow EU membership is not the be all and end all. Turkey wants to join so it could be a case of lose one gain one. Scotland can be part of the EU too if it wants to despite disconnection from the European landmass.

This must be a new way of thinking if it applies to marriage counselling. That is if one partner is unhappy they should stay together regardless. Alternatively the EU could just let go and get its act together so countries stay voluntarily.

"First, the UK is a global laughing stock".

It certainly is. It might recover its sovereignty after Brexit, but it will never recover its dignity; nor will the Conservative Party ever regain respect since its behaviour has shown that it no longer believes in democracy or the rights of citizens who didn't vote the way they were meant to.

Scotland should be allowed to go its own way, and sink or swim all on its own. Northern Ireland is an unnecessary burden, too.

What are the consequences of leaving without a deal? Diabolically disastrous, given it will likely diminish the UK forever!

If Labor had a leader instead of a fence-sitting Marxist, Labor would have agreed to an election and campaigned on another more qualified referendum, given none of those who voted to leave, never ever signed up for the mountains of power struggle BS that followed!

If Britain, oops England leaves without a deal? One can see a Scot's rebellion and the reunification of Ireland? As the only pragmatic way forward.

What could remain could be a Celtic union that stays, which effectively allows England to have her cake and eat it too, but only with a pragmatist at the helm! Not the control freak, power junkie that has maneuvered his way into the top position. Whatever happened to bipartisan pragmatism? [Go wash your mouth out, Alan.]

The current talks are about a die in a ditch first, no-deal exit and setting up trade relations (free trade deals) with all the former British colonies; and, wait for it, Russia! And almost guaranteed to put former allies and NATO, completely offside?

More than willing to tear up trade deals and place embargos/tariff barriers on a nation that wants to cozy up with a mendacious, highly disingenuous, pernicious, problematic, presumptuous, presumptive, pompous, popinjay, Power-hungry, President Putin! Who is a narcissist, ego-driven, maniacal, elected dictator, with an ego that's a danger to shipping! As I see him.

I see 1938 looming large here again and dictatorial Leaders, left right and centre, all riding a wave of highly misplaced and socially engineered nationalism and slipping sliding to the hard intolerant right everywhere one looks! And nowhere more self-evident than in today's deeply divided Britain!

It has to be such a comfort to Boris, to know, he's always right!

The UK can either leave, or forever keep paying for ever for a wasted Europe. The stupidity of the EU bureaucrat run mess will collapse sometime, probably soon, & England is better off out of the mess before it happens.

Australia may gain from a no-deal Brexit.

A reduction in Britain-EU exports and imports may see a rise in Britain's exports/imports with Australia - especially for Aus's mining and agricultural products.
