Time and time again, the Taliban has demonstrated that they cannot be extricated from the land that has over the ages claimed so many empires.

Simply follow the trends for the answer.
Your more than correct on your view of the damage of globalism to everything Australia was. And what it will become is already starkly unfolding in front of our eyes.
China will control outcomes in the southern Pacific, and it appears the US cares little about that!

Morrison the Wet doesn't have a "thesis" on China or anything else that is a threat to Australia.

There's some truth in the claim that China was turned into a giant opium addict and rapaciously exploited.

As indeed were many other sovereign nations by their former English masters, not the least of who were the Celts of both Scotland and Ireland!

Many of who were treated abominably and transported in the harshest conditions in recorded history, to the other side of a very much larger pre-opium war days, world.

That said, China with a much larger middle class than the world's biggest economy, America, is clearly a developed country with it current status questionably defined by a few remaining pockets of extreme poverty in mostly its recently acquired/subdued/suppressed new territories in Tibet or the North West Muslim Wigan communities and territory!

Take those highly depressed poverty ravaged areas out of the analysis and it is a developed country and bound by the same rules as the international community whos inclusion into a trading and privileged partner enabled their rise and rise to ever-increasing exponential prosperity and remarkable military build-up and sabre-rattling expansion!

And makes Mr Morrison's commentary reasonably accurate! However, his choice of venues to express those (pro-Trump) views!? Less than democratic and or, wise!

Better we build up our self-defence military expansion first as well as levering ourself off of the Nanny tit that's become our problematic trading status with the world's second-largest economy!

As for the demanded respect?

Respect is something only ever earned! Not demanded by despotic dictators with a really big stick!

And the suppression of freedom and human rights! By the new Nippon/bully boy on the block! Is not how it's earned!

There is a better way!
