As Hasbeen says, the reef bleaching scam has been doing on for a long time. I first read about it - attributed to the crown of thorns starfish - in the early 1960s.

As for attributing any future bleaching event to Adani, that would be a rather useless stunt. The Adani mine site is in the Galilee Basin, nearly 600 km south-west of Mackay and on the inland side of the Great Divide. A lot of southerners seem to think the mine will be on a beach close to the GBR. It doesn't actually matter what they think, of course: Queenslanders want to mine to go ahead. Some idiot was reported in the media as suggesting the mine should be blocked and local people "retrained". To do what?

Anyway, thanks to Bob Brown and his clownish supporters. They've helped seal the deal and saved the national economy from Labor at the same time.
