A great flushing out: social media footprints and electioneering in Australia : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 14/5/2019

This is a far cry from the supposedly mighty role the use of social media was meant to have in participatory politics.

I actually see this trend as positive.
"The truth gets out".

The other truth that gets out is also revealing; the fact that political parties are terrified of the truth, thus the sacking of the apologetic truth sayers.

All the above is entirely my objection to politicians. A lying underhanded collection of cozening scum bags.

Good on you social media!

“It has been an uninspiring election….”. Someone or other says this at every election. They never say what would make make a campaign ‘inspiring’ in their eyes. The truth is that those waiting to be inspired by our pedestrian politicians will die waiting. Election campaigns are always bulldust and pork barreling, mostly ignored by people who don't make a living connected to politics.

At the end of all the argy-bargy, we will have a Labor government or a Coalition government, and the differences from the previous three years will be minimal. It won't matter if Bill or Scott are Prime Minister (irrespective of our personal likes and opinions) because they are both puppets of people who don't have to put themselves up for election, but who will always be pulling the strings.

The best part is watching the results and listening to the jabber on TV on election night to see just how silly and wrong pundits and polls have been this time.

Perhaps a better idea than elections would be for each side to have a turn at regular intervals, without the bullshite and lies of campaigning.

And? People who create a false facade for political purposes and then are outed as the real personalities they truly are? Have nothing whatsoever to complain about!

If you don't want to own what you say? Then don't say it!! And or just don't stand for elected office!

What voters respect is authenticity. Even where they may disagree with some of the nominee's stated views of policy paradigms! And up to the candidate to argue his or her case and persuade with rational logical argument and facts!

Hearns "indiscretion" was in the August 2016 Quadrant comments section on the article "The Will of Allah" by Jim Campbell. You may wish to correct your dates.

The only way for this Nation to pick itself up & get underway again is by Conservative politics !
If labor get their hands onto the steering wheel again, the de-railing & off-course managing & tax dollar squandering will again set us back as per usual. I just pray that people think about the damage their vote will do if they vote for proven failure again !
