The centre right is needed to combat these lunatics, who are sworn to wipe out Israel altogether, and the 'settlements’ are in place because of these lunatics and their constant threat to Israel. And, how surprising that Israelis have “developed a siege mentality”. They are only constantly under siege from rocket-firing terrorists!

This is an unhinged piece of writing, brought about by the simple fact that Israel, the only civilised, democratic country in the region - a country with similar mores and values to Australia - wants to defend itself from Islamic terror. Perhaps it is time for Israel's Left and Centre to start looking at the ultra-orthodox (charedim) as humans rather than cockroaches, to respect their freedom to pursue their independent way of life and to stop threatening them with conscription.

Had they done so, then the orthodox parties would not be pre-committed to Netanyahu. As the orthodox parties are neutral with no policies regarding the occupied territories and as they have 16 members out of the Knesset's (parliament) 120, they could have sided with the Left/Centre instead and the whole picture and Israel could have been so different!
