Mainstream analysis is again addressing the fact that the deal is being done to fund Crown Prince MBS's Saudi Vision 2030.

This had to happen. And because of self-inflicted cash flow difficulties! Done by quite deliberately turning down the oil production valves to try to boost cash flow. Instead has forced the average motorist to think FU my next car is going to be electric!

And given the option of a graphene highway and electric cars that then can drive from Melbourne to Perth or Adelaide to Darwin without stopping for anything more than rest and comfort stops, a foregone conclusion happening far sooner than the Saudis and Mr Putin wanted!

Moreover, threatened by the absolute certainty of MSR thorium entering the electricity market! And with it, the leveraging of the oil industries hands off of our economic short and curlies; and, power prices that could be lower than 2 cents PKWH!

Assisted by the end of domination in political circles by the servants of big business. Plus a technological revolution and more and more push back against wall street and its corrupt operators.

I don't want to fund MBS's 2030 Saudi Vision.
Obviously I'd rather use Australian oil and gas.
But of foreign producers, I'd rather buy Russian, Iranian or even Venezuelan oil; if I had the choice.
