Coincidentally with the release of the McGill University report, Mr Trudeau weighed in again denouncing the US Government's treatment of illegal immigrants.

Somewhere north of fifty million people are eking out an existence in refugee camps waiting to be relocated to a host country!

And given porous borders? Many millions more stateless folk operating under assumed identities, or ignorant of the circumstances of their arrival!

Too young to recall the terror of illegally crossing several borders as hand carried baggage, or in their mother's arms.

The latter group being mercilessly pursued/persecuted for crimes they never genuinely or knowingly committed. Many attending schools an university to become valuable citizens.

And could be offered something like a stint in the defence forces and or a tour of duty, to earn a right to stay where they grew and know no other community, a way of life or their ethnic mother tongue.

That said, this is a growing problem that can only be resolved by addressing the main causes, poverty and unmet need. and at the source! And starts with addressing climate-change-related desertification.

By the use or seriously cheap carbon-free, MSR thorium power that then also powers deionisation dialysis desalination and potable water still cheap enough to use on broad-scale irrigation projects.

Doable for the same money used chasing, incarcerating and persecuting illegal migration! A far better more humane way of utilising scarce resources!

Remove as much of the incentive to leave as possible and just let problem cure itself as formerly impoverished communities advance economically!

I'm not sure that bring in a bunch of Islamists and giving them "something like a stint in the defence forces and or a tour of duty, to earn a right to stay" is an outstandingly good idea. We have enough problems from giving them driving licences, without going to military training.

It is ridiculous to claim that solving the problems of illegal immigrants "starts with addressing climate-change-related desertification". To the contrary, additional carbon dioxide in the atmosphere contributes to plant and crop growth, not desertification.

Mind you, the UN was claiming desertification was a problem way back in the 1970s - you know, back when global cooling was the big threat.

No wonder Uni studies are treated with contempt.

With the lefty control of universities who needs a fifth column today.

Academics seem determined to undermine the societies which are their only means of support.
