I want to know that the Doctor applying his scalpel to my important organs is both properly qualified and constrained by, a least do no harm regulations.
Or that the pilot at the controls of my plane is both properly qualified and both he/she and the employer are constrained by proper and adhered to regulations,i.e., enforceable maintenance schedules!
On the other hand, some rules regulations and prohibitions we could do without, are those that effectively prevent reasonable R+D into thorium nuclear energy!
That said we need root and branch reform of taxation and double dipping double handling. By triplicated, empire building, bureaucratic institutions.
And far less intrusive smaller government, much more regional autonomy and wherever possible in any social service model. A needs-based means-tested direct funding model, coupled to far more punitive forging and uttering laws, as a bulwark against any temptation to fraudulent practice!
