Well said. Much has changed since this article has been written of course. Many more countries have been added to the list that now ban the corporal punishment of children realizing that it is one of the worst actions to take against a child and therefore, society at large. Children are extremely vulnerable. Hitting or yelling at them is abusive and just downright ignorant.

Children's bodies are small and fragile as is their psychological make-up. Children cannot handle being hit or yelled at which is why so many of them end up with stomach disorders, illnesses, bed-wetting problems, psychological problems, aggressive tendencies - you name it. To make children suffer for the rest of their lives due to the punishment from adults is truly crazy.

Australia has looked away from child abuse for far too long. A woman from New South Wales posted on a website that she was beaten by her mother, a teacher, and her father, a cop, (what good teacher or cop beats their kids?) and who admittedly now beats her own children, says that Australia doesn't have as many "sticky beaks" as other countries do. I think that is a problem. Australian adults needs to care enough about children and less about their own egos to become sticky beaks when it comes to children being mistreated by a parent. Yes, one of the adults watching that little boy being beaten by his mother should have stepped in right away. Just be gentle but firm with the mother letting her know that what she is doing is wrong and what might benefit her and her son instead. Create a calm atmosphere so to say, so that she will stop the abuse immediately and listen to you.

Do something, do anything for children just don't do nothing.
