The march of the politically correct – reshaping our language : Comments

By Russell Grenning, published 7/5/2018

It is so extraordinarily Orwellian that even its own President Mark Huddleston has admitted that he is 'troubled by many things' that it contains.

Yep!
We now have the vagina and the vaginaless person giving rise to discrimination against the common dyke who wants to be recognized as a vaginaless person so as to define their position in a relationship or the vaginaless person who claims their choice of being a vagina person is being denied.
And then we have the moronic percentage of society going along with it because someone told them that is they don't use their brain it could be worth a lot of money one day.
Ahh...first world problems....and that's why we need a long period of hardship so as to refocus on fundamentals.

ttbn: My compliments on the power behind your sentiment and sincerity.
It's no secret that I am a pedant and as such am a fierce defender of the English language, itself a mixture of older languages.
I hope then that you will accept some modest correction, not in the interest of PC-ness but in avoiding offence to the language itself.

You write: "...Marxism and globalist agenda's..." No apostrophe should be used to indicate a plural as you have with "agenda". This word, because it ends with an "a", is a plural already. The single form is "agendum". Othe words that end in "a" that are themselves plural are "data", "criteria", "phenomena". The " 's" is both superfluous and a punctuation error.

It was almost a given that any avenue of self-correction that presented a prospect of greater popularity, greater inclusiveness [whatever that word means in this context] and a univesal longing to be loved and accepted by EVERYONE, then the USA with brass bands blaring, is way out in front of the parade. This trait probably has several historical sources. Additionally, I think a kind of cringe developed from being the most prosperous, industrially and scientifically advanced nation on the planet. There's probaly not a news media outlet ANYWHERE that has not at least one reference to the USA every day, week or month.

It is deeply offensive that people my own age [I have lived a healthy and mildly impecunious 80 years] and younger, assume the right of advising me that my education and life experience is not worth as much as I had thought, that they can tell me with pompous impunity that my upbringing was faulty and that the lessons I learned from my parents must be racist, mistaken, unlearned, rude, bigoted and anachronistic and that I must accommodate their reverse bigotry or suffer their disapproval. Damn their eyes and blast their teeth! I will not pollute what meagre intellect I have with any more stupidity than that which has been my lot to bear.

My rant for the week.
