The importance of Critical Intelligence in navigating the VUCA world : Comments

By Gianni Zappala, published 6/4/2018

The way we understand intelligence is changing, and this is reflected in how we work, what employers look for in future employees, and how best to enable the skills required by the future workforce.

Absolute piffle trying to sound intelligent? XXX At no time will emotive or spiritual intelligence improve the individual's ability to take in and understand STEM subjects. After all, these are the ones future employers will need along with an inherent problem solving ability. XXX This sounds like one of those academics with an arts degree leaving Uni with a head chock full of completely untried and untested intellectual concepts, with equally untested charts and what have you that attempt to prove that the Emperor's clothes are real! XXX It's not critical intelligence they need but critical thinking and knowing where to find missing critical information. XXX In any event, what does the average employer know? If he or she is just another privileged, know SFA, moneyed moron/corporate psycho? And best served by an 18 year old with fifty years experience! XXX What will work is a culture of mentoring and cadetships, along with promoting from within to incentivize the best and brightest to put in! XXX Alan B.

Hi Alan,
I feel you have spoken/ written hastily and that, were you to rethink this fascinating article, you might discern a grain of useful knowledge to be used. The acronym VUCA for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity will give me a better insight into what has happened and why, and what is likely to happen. If we know something about the near future we can facilitate it or foil it depending on our perception of whether the future event is welcomed or not.

It is interesting to see Contextual Intelligence compared with and contrasted to Emotional Intelligence or Spiritual Intelligence, when I believed that EI and SI were quite different things.

It will be interesting to see what some of the usual crowd make of this article. Very much something to ponder about.

No BRIAN, Alan has got this bloke well and truly pegged!
I have always been fascinated by people able to weave a line of nonsense but make it look like it makes sense lol!
I actually thought April the First (all fools day) but dismissed that.

As may be..... but you have to go a long way to beat Theresa May's claim that Egypt is exercising true democracy

Special Delivery, now you are moving on to a special kind of stupidity. I still remember Gough Whitlam saying Communist China was so democratic, that was just after some millions of Chinese were killed by the commo's.

So the author believes that if one contemplates and looks within intuitively to try and capture ideas from the spiritual realms, then they should be more successful at work.

This presumes that God/spirit supports the concept of workforce in general and one's specific workplace in particular, but what's more likely to happen is that as one grows in spirit, they will instead find the concept of workforce distasteful and their particular workplace highly unethical and unwholesome.

I take much pity for the younger generations who are forced to find a job in ever more pressured and compromising 21st century conditions. I really don't know what to advise them except, better not be born at these times to begin with and certainly don't bring any more children into this pressurised world to suffer as it stands.
