Having read the article I'm certainly not going to bother with the book. His comparisons between colonial times and present-day power plays says more about Avery's extreme interpretations than it says about events. He is best ignored.

War produces or speeds up so many beneficial technologies such as development:

- and mass production of Penicillin (WWII, 1940) [1]

- of sturdy reliable Aircraft (WWI and WWII)

- mature Jet and Rocket Engines (zie Germans WWII)

and lately reliable, mass produced Prothetic Limbs, mainly due to wars in the Middle East, 1990 onwards.
