Yes, the man is clearly a power tripping control freak bereft of morals, ethics or normal human empathy. But that's just my opinion.

I've always advocated, you achieve far more with a teaspoon of honey than a whole jar of vinegar.

Even so, some dictators can only be put back in their box with their own personal annihilation and in the case of North Korea, snuffing out a few lives/psychotics, may save millions.

In the meantime we can best represent our cause by using what we have as a typical good samaritans to lift the yoke of hunger, poverty and unmet need from the backs of the oppressed and dispossessed. And end the perceived need to create fear to produce positive outcomes!

As simple as providing carbon free energy solutions even the third world can afford and with that energy allow solutions like gifted deionisation dialisis desalination to change their landscape, their prospects and eventually the face of the planet.

As this occurs massively expand our trade related opportunities with these new emerging economies. And so, to assist as outlined, is in our own self interest, ultimately. Or if you will, spending a sprat to catch a mackerel.

And where that is the case, remove most if not all the reasons for human conflict.

As that follows, change the face of the planet to one with gardens where there once were uninhabitable deserts.

One only needs to read the speech given in 1933 by a retired US Marine General, Smedley Butler, to see how nothing at all has changed in over 120 years.

What a diatribe Kampmark.

Why do you restrict America from doing what most countries do?

Something about the predictably left Melbourne academic in you?

Most other countries have parades eg. British Royal (Military) Parades. France, India, Russia all have military parades.

Why to you make the US a exceptionalist prisoner?

Your kind will hate America anyway (unless it apologises on its knees) in your RMIT staff room. http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/author.asp?id=715

The only way one could equate the Roman Empire and the US hegemony is if you :

1. Utterly misunderstand the nature of the Roman Empire
2. Utterly misunderstand the nature of the US leadership of the West
3. Utterly torture the meaning of the word 'empire'.

Then, and only then, yeah the US is just like Rome.

BTW Rome existed as an empire for about 800 years. Here's hoping the US emulates that as well.

Actually ROME as a Kingdom , Republic and Empire lasted for just over 2,000 years. Only in Western European History do we believe that it disappeared in 476 AD.. The Eastern half of the Empire lasted until 1453 AD.. Only Europeans , for Religious & Political reasons called it something else as opposed to the Catholic Holy Roman Empire... and then later still called it the Byzantine Empire. In the East it was the Roman Empire until its' end.

What the Article does prove is , is that FAKE NEWS is 2,000 years old, at least.. promoted by Academics like Agricola then and nowadays.........?
