By Peter Henning, published 29/1/2018

Turnbull still spins the well-worn fallacy that cutting taxes for the big end of town will create more jobs.

I have to say that I no longer believe in the 'trickle down effect', nor do I believe that corporate tax cuts mean more jobs. I'm sure that the cuts improve donations to scumbag politicians. Or, is it the donations buying the tax cuts?

I'm sorry but this article has very little to recommend it! Cutting taxes does not necessarily destroy egalitarianism!

Because the right tax reform can and does boost the economy, it follows there ought to be genuine, root and branch reform of our tax system to one, eliminate the man-made structural deficit now part of our current system! And two, given the top corporate tax paid in 2017 actual dollars was just 17%, with one in three allegedly paying no company tax, it follows there has to be tax reform!

Egalitarianism can be well and truly restored by tax reform that makes a PAYG, or PAYE, a 15% flat tax both unavoidable and compulsory!

With the threshold raised and maintain at the adjustable level in line fixed to inflation or the CPI, whichever is greater. To ensure That bracket creep is eliminated, or those at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder aren't crippled by a demonstrably unfair tax burden!

With an unavoidable tax system installed all tax minimisation strategies become worthless and just costly counterproductive cost burdens and therefore junked. Saving the enterprise around 7% averaged, which can then be returned to the bottom line, meaning the effective corporate tax, would be just 8%.

After that, there are substantial savings to be made by rationalizing education and health care both of which could be directly funded as means tested endowments?

And assisted by far more regional autonomy, which simply circumvents, entirely unnecessary fee charging middlemen!

Outlawing, public or private, profit demanding or fee charging middlemen, would all but halve the cost of living or just doing business! TBC.

Real fair dinkum tax reform is only part of the answer, the rest is affordable energy i.e., carbon free thorium! Rolled out as private enterprise, employe owned co-ops, would produce the lowest costing energy we've ever produced and as little as an estimated $00.1.98. as the PKH median. (economist and ivy league Professor, and author of, Thorium, cheaper than coal, Robert hargreaves)

Yes we're talking about fifty year old technology abandoned because it couldn't be easily weaponized then forbidden because it potentially harmed the business models of those technologies that could!?

Thorium is around 3-4 times more abundant than uranium, is the most energy dense material on the planet. Can be burnt in a walk away safe, molten salt reactors.

If unattended corrosion allows molten salt to leak, the salt cools, crystallizes back to salt, which self plugs any leak.

Ordinary concrete walls completely blocking any gamma radiation. In the event of a power loss the system simply shuts itself down via built in passive safety design!

We are talking about reactors able to be mass produced and shipped wherever we need power, inside a stock standard shipping container. Which as a design feature, eliminates many miles of highly vulnerable transmission lines and allows these reactors to be located wherever power is needed!

Be it a self contained military base or an industrial estate with no tattle tale transmission lines to identify an important target.

With a flat tax, the best way, the only way to grow the tax base, is to grow the economy!

And what I've proposed would do that in spades and turbocharge it, all while containing harmful inflation!

We had decades of blame shifting, duck shoving vacillation and harmful privatisation! Very definitely time for something else!

The same money burning dithering, more of the same or just doing nothing real, BS shoveled by the shipload or more internal political conflict, is just not an option!

Our alleged Leaders need to work for us and only us, or join the job queues!

This article as with most of Peter Henning's is full of emotion, opinion, and misrepresentation, but bare of facts or reality.

1 Just about every major nation is cutting corporate taxes as it has been clearly shown to improve investment and as a result jobs,
2 Reducing corporate tax is not based on trickle down economics, and only a half wit would say so.
3 Trade deals also create jobs, and have increased wealth word wide for decades.

'Improving investment'......but where are the jobs....you know, the activity one embraces so as to be able to pay his/her mortgage?
Where's Australia's armaments industry....Australia has no qualms about buying someone else's armaments to kill and 'defend?' but has qualms about making it's own....another industry with a 'no, no' not for us!
Wait!....we have the SA submarines, What a joke.... in that they'll be obsolete before the ink dries on the drawings.
Hypocrites one and all....and now you have drones.
Now if the Drones are used by English speaking forces...that's OK....but if they're used by Ayrabs or the Chinese then that's a no! no!....they have to be confined to yesterdays weaponry....what an effing joke.
You just don't get it....you can never win against people with beliefs so strong, who dedicate their lives to a cause, right and wrong have nothing to do with it!

Show me one Australian soldier willing to go to battle without the promise of payment....but you're seeing suicide bombers every day

.....all because societies refuse to respect each other
respect costs nothing....just a little consideration

Most of the soldiers who almost to a man, volunteered for duty during WW1 and WW11, had no guarantee of payment. And we owe our freedom to them!

Suicide bombers are brainwashed murdering hellbound morons, not fearless warriors defending home and hearth.

We could restore a sense of patriotism, if we had leaders willing ready and able to work for us and our interests rather than this or that powerful vested interest.

And demonstrably so as evidenced by the energy crisis, unaffordable energy and unaffordable housing.

[You want us to put our lives on the line for that!?]

None of which are assisted by so called representatives, with a large parcel of shares in this or that coal mine or privatised power authority. Or with a huge parcel of negatively geared residential housing investments.

And as always in such cases, self interest trumps the national interest, while mealy mouths claim most piously, it just isn't so!

This nation could be a great nation and the wealthiest on earth, if we had just two things. Leaders who are able to put Australia and Australians first and foremost. And a visionary policy paradigm that just doesn't rule anything out but seeks creative ways to achieve the seemingly impossible.

[I mean come on. Tiny NZ already has an operational aerospace industry!]

Now a genuine inclusive egalitarian society is one many would lay down their lives to both protect and ensure continued! Paid or not!

And we just don't need to take anything from anybody else to achieve just such a reality. Which needs must, must include a few less wealthy and over rewarded, do nothing real, yakety, yak, blah, blah, decidedly divisive, divide and rule, self indulgent politicians!

We've had an absolute belly full of the type that always know why it can't be done and why we can't have it! Now we need the other kind who know how it can and will be done and how we can have it, without mortgaging our very souls and our last vestiges of can do self esteem, for it!
