Hillary won the popular vote by a surprisingly significant margin, but was clearly "trumped" by the release by WikiLeaks of those alleged emails, Some of which would seem to be fake? And the unprecedented intervention by the FBI! Plus the fact that the Intel community believes as she does, on widespread Russian interference in democratic elections. All of which combined to sway ultra critical college votes.
That said, she ought to have brought Bernie into her campaign as her running mate and allowed most of his semi socialist paradigm and policy stance to be the message! She was hopeless at reading the public mood for change, we can all believe in! Which has not gone away or become diminished! Just the opposite! So to some extent, she was the author of her own demise? On the understanding there's no longer a left or right! Just up or down, good or bad policy for born again pragmatists! Guardian Angel of public morality and the public's right to know. Hahahaha. Julian Assange still hides out in the Ecuadorian embassy, even though Sweden has dropped criminal action against him! His alleged reason for being there! Clearly and self evidently, the only fantasy on display here is that of the anti American, Anti Clinton, Assange defending Author? Birds of a feather? Alan B. Clinton blew it. She didn't campaign in three critical states, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, blandly assuming they were in the bag. She lost them, three crucial states and their electoral college votes, by a total of barely a couple of hundred thousand actual votes, and thereby the Presidency. Now we're stuck with Trump, at least for now. Thanks, Hill !

Killarney is a war criminal and psychopath, no ifs, no but's, no maybe's!
As to the Russian hack, well seventeen US intel agencies have yet to find one scrap of evidence. Additionally, the data stolen from the DNC server was downloaded at a speed too high for hacking, i.e. it had to be downloaded to an external USB type device. This evidence has been proven as fact. Therefore no Russian hack, the US MSM should put up or shut up, as should the democratic shills spouting the Russia did it fantasy. Clinton lost, too bad. Good riddance. As to Trump, well what you see is what you get, an immature, narcissistic, power mad lunatic at the beck and call of the Deep State and its powerful Zionist lobby backing. US politics is a joke, it's fascinating to watch an empire in decline. Unfortunately the usual result is war and more wars. You can see the US failures in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen! Somalia, and tomorrow in Iran and North Korea. So much for the US being a bastion of democracy etc. More like a Ruling elite mimicking the mafia and a spoilt petulant child. When the US is finally a failed state I am sure Australian Government vassalage will be recognised and we might cease being a lap dog, but then again that's a faint hope given our current crop of vacuous politicians. Donald "Fake" Trump has Clinton and coal locked up .
“Extreme global shortages of metallurgical coal have caused prices to increase 250% since earlier in the year [2016],” Corsa CEO George Dethlefsen said . Hence the decision to develop the new Acosta mine, which is expected to create as many as 100 jobs. “The opening of the Acosta mine has nothing to do with U.S. federal policy,” wrote Trevor Houser, a partner with the economic research company Rhodium Group. “. Chinese and Australian mining supply cuts have pushed up the price of metallurgical coal around the world, making US production economical.” The U.S. Energy Information Administration projects that the long-term trend through 2050 is relatively flat." Not too bad Binoy; but I think you can do better.
What you really need to focus on (if you want to be a great journalist) is preventing the slide towards 'establishment narrative'. Your job is to present the facts; and share your own opinion on the topic only when it's worth something. Your getting better, but there's heaps of facts you left out. If you want to be factual in regards to 'so called' Russian collusion, focus on exposing the hypocrisy of the US involvement in overthrowing Ukraine and involving itself in those elections. Then raise the topic of the Uranium One Scandal (deal for control of 20% US Uranium assets to Russia) as shown on Hannity today 10/17/2017 - $140m in kickbacks to the Clinton Foundation after the FBI uncovered bribery in the deal and Congress gave the go ahead. You did not mention that Debbie Wasserman-Shultz was forced to resign after it was shown the DNC colluded to make sure Hillary won the Primary (Making her an elected dictator) - for the Presidential nomination, or that Bernie's funds were being transferred into the Hillary Campaign, or that Awan brothers were running a spy-ring in congress. In terms of foreign policy - it makes little difference anymore, Trumps's more or less continuing the same Foreign policy agenda Hillary would've, but still supporting Trumps candidacy sent a message to the neo-liberal fascist progressives that they do not have the mandate. And Hollywood, is such a bunch of deranged fools who speak of equality but treat conservatives as if they are gays living in the 50's. Actors are used for money laundering and campaign contributions. And Alan B, Wikileaks track record is untarnished. - They never even tried to deny the content of the Podesta emails, for your information. Binoy, write an article explaining why Julia Gillard and Australia gave millions to the Clinton Foundation / CGI and what they were really involved in? You can do it. Prove you earned that degree in political journalism, young upstart. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 11:59:23 AM

I remember reading the book "Living History,"
the Memoirs of Hillary Rodham Clinton a few years ago. She wrote with candor, humour, and passion about her upbringing in suburban middle-class America in the 1950s and her transformation fro Goldwater Girl to student activist to controversial First Lady. Her book was a revealing memoir of life through the White House years. A 30 year adventure in love and politics that survived personal betrayal, relentless partisan investigation, and constant public scrutiny. She came to define herself and find her own voice - as a woman and as a formidable figure in American politics. I therefore watched the Four Corners program on Monday night and the interview with Sarah Ferguson, with great interest. I was again impressed. Hillary Clinton did not disappoint - answering every question and again for me - capturing the essence of one of the most remarkable women of our time. What a difference it would have been had she been made President of the US - instead of the incompetent that is there now. Ah well, ours is not to reason why... Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do & die, Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley'd & thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Kill Russians no questions asked. Posted by nicknamenick, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 2:47:42 PM

As far as the American Election goes -
So many cared - but obviously not enough. "Most "necessary evils" are far more evil than necessary. (Richard Branson). Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 3:08:35 PM

Of course the Democrats could have been on the nose with voters because they didn't deliver and stuffed up while in office. They got voted out.
But for giggles let's make it solely about personality and for one Hillary supporter here, the voters are at fault for 'not caring enough'. LOL, too good, a screamer. Posted by leoj, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 3:18:18 PM

Yes indeed, Americans are certainly screaming now.

For the umpteenth time, the US voting system (the Electoral College) defeated Clinton. Not Putin, not Assange, not the Illuminati and not trump.

Hillary was given a get of jail free card by Comey who admitted to numerous Title 18 breaches in regards to the use of her private email server - and for those who don't understand the law:
Under Title 18 - Criminal intent is not required. Negligence is a Title 18 violation. Many other US servicemen sit in prison for doing far less that what Hillary did. She used her position as a politician for the purposes of her own slush fund, and criminal enterprises... She should never have been eligible for president, she should've been serving a prison sentence and ineligible for her sending classified documents on an unsecured server, unapproved non-government computer, which she did for the sole purpose of preventing any oversight of what she was doing running a slush fund. Everything she did while serving in a position of government is a matter of transparency to Congress and the US citizens. She tried to circumvent the rules for her own crimes. Getting a billion dollars to help victims of Haiti, spending a few million and keeping the rest and leaving the people to be exploited by microfinancing, organ harvesting, forced labour and sex trafficking. She's a demented lunatic and a criminal, and belongs in jail. 'War hides their crimes.' Those who support her, well they're no better because they give the likes of her a free pass, and ignore the criticisms like they don't exist and effectively enabled her to do the things she does. If she really was good, I'd support her no question. But she's not. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 6:31:19 PM

Foxy,
If your assessment of Hillary is based on her memoirs, then no doubt you will have a polished view of her. However, in spite of her achievements she and Bill have left a legacy of bad decisions and messes behind them, and her loss to Obama in 2008 was largely due to her legacy and her odium amongst many Democrats and not Obama's brilliance. The factors Hillary's loss to Trump were: 1 Her swing further to the left to fend off Sanders 2 The Trump teams recognition of the voters growing antipathy towards the new PC culture. 3 Trump's targeting of the smaller states that Hillary took for granted and, 4 The failure of Democrats to vote in sufficient numbers in the battleground states. Given that the money spent on the election ran over $1bn the amount of time and money spent by the Russians is minuscule, and the idea that it made the difference in the election is laughable.
